Hi

While fitting a Sterling Battery-Battery charger the other day, I noticed that insulation under the cab plastic matting was wet. I noticed this while I had the engine battery cover off - you could see the wetness in the foam. The insulation is for sound-proofing rather than heat retention - its the green speckled stuff.

Anyone got any idea's where this might be coming from? I have a few ideas:

- Condensation running off the inside of the windscreen down the back of the dash and into the floor

- Poor sealing around a wheel arch meaning that driving in wet weather forces water inside

- From the void under the wiper motor?

- From the heater matrix

Van has no air-con so its not condensation coming off the air-con pipes.

Anyone else suffered similar and located the source?

Nigel

I have similar issue on my Ducato van.....water coming in when it rains and cleaned vent and pipe but still no luck.
Any advice please will be appreciated.
thanks a lot

Mine's a 2007. I bought it a couple of years old.
6 months after I got it, I had about a small cupful of water fall out of the high level parcel shelf.
Stripped it all out and watched the rain come in along the top edge of the screen.
I used a tube of black silicon to seal it. Worked a treat but has left a residue on the glass. You can see this in the top 30% of the screen.
I would advise you use something else if this is your cause.

Get some tape and run it across the top of the screen. Drive the van for a couple of weeks and see if your still getting wet.

Hope this helps
