Hi, can anyone help please, my 2.4D LWB 1999 van has stuck in fifth gear, clutch feels the same, fluid level is ok, it just refuses to budge out of gear. As I don´t want to resort to a big hammer in case I really do some damage has anyone any idea what may be wrong.

Have you tried disconnecting the cables from the gear linkages on the gearbox itself to see if the problem is in the box itself or if the shift cables/gearlever mechanism etc are the problem.
If it appears that it is in the box itself then you can remove the cover plate over the 5th gear (accessed from the left wheel arch) which is on the outside of the gearbox casing on the back of the box to see what the problem is (it is has 5 retaining bolts & a rubber seal).
Then move the external shift levers on the gearbox to see what the problem is.
