I have an earlier post on how to change the fuel on the 2.8JTD Ducato which has a spin-on type fuel filter. https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/142975-how-change-fuel-filter-2-8jtd.html
The X250 has a cartridge type filter element in which case I would think you
would have to remove the complete assembly to enable the top to be separated
(Unscrewed) from the canister holding the element. Although it might be possible
to do it insitu as with the spin-on type on the 2.8, I had to loosen the bracket
bolts slightly to get enough room to get oil filter tool on the fuel filter.
If insitu is not possible, disconnect the fuel lines with the "rapid connectors" &
the electrical connections & filter assembly mounting bracket & the two parts will have to be
unscrewed using a vice holding the top (with extreme caution) & maybe the oil filter
removal tool for the bottom? The manual actually says put the canistor in the vice (again with extreme caution ) & remove the top with a special tool
It does have a bleed screw on the side but I would assume you could use the same procedure outlined in my post on the 2.8 JTD to self bleed itself after the canister is fitted with the new element & is filled with fresh diesel beforehand as per my 2.8JTD post.

thank you very much ,that was very helpful ,i will give it a go next weekend
