Hi Guys need help with this one .. starts great but injector light stays on and glow light stays on about 20 seconds after start up, then glow light stays out, but injector light stays on all day.
van drives great with no power loss or misfires . The lights are just annoying me and i am anxious that i may be causing a major problem if i keep driving it like this .

I think he gone sir!

No, seriously BRAVOHAZ, it sounds similar to a fault we had with our 2.8JTD, but the glowplug light didn't stay on with ours!!

I would suggest a trip to your local Bosch Diesel injection specialist!

If you want me to go into the details of our fault (which ironically rectified itself after 70,000 miles), please post up.

Its a 2001 van . fault started 2 weeks ago as soon as it started up. now glow plug light stays on for appox 20 secs and injector light stays on all the time. still drives and starts great though?

Glow plug light could be cold weather conditions. they are capable of providing post heat after start up. Ours does in this current minus 5 deg C temperatures.

The Injector light, well, it could be the same as our van, which had a K140 fault when interrogated by a Bosch diagnostic Diesel Injection specialist. Although if yours is not a common rail engine, the injection system would be different.

I won't go into too much detail, but the van ran perfectly and drove perfectly. We had and injector supply cable break and whilst repairing, the Injection specialist found this fault. Basically the Common rail fuel pump has three fuel supplying cylinders: When idling, it should only use two cyliinders in the pump to supply engine fuel. Our fault meant that it wasn't cutting back onto 2 cylinders at idle. Basically it was using 3 all the time and the rest of the system was compensating.

I would (for the sake of not overlooking something and blowing up your engine etc), get a Diesel injection specialist to check it out. I don't think a Fiat Dealer can do it using Examiner Diagnostics, as it requires diagnostics relevant to the brand of injection system.

Our fault magically rectified itself with no intervention at 114,000 miles.

Called 3rd piston deactivation, common terminology in diesel world but yes you are 100% correct in what you say.

If you started the van in very frosty conditions you may have blown a fuse. Check the ones under the bonnet left hand side. Replace fuse. (20 amp) Start van. lights will still be on. switch off. Turn on ignition but do not start, wait about 30 secs lights should go out. this is a common enough fault with the Ducato.

HI! was wondering if you managed to sort this problem or just left it to sort its self out? My van the same model 2001 2.8jtd common rail has just started with the same fault.
many thanks

Mike
