Please can someone put me out of my misery.
I cannot find the reverse light switch on this gearbox.
Any guidance would be greatly received.
Fiat ducato 2.8 JTD 2006:(
Thanks.

Thanks for the info.
I think i have found it.
The plug is grey with 2 wires.
The trouble i have now is removing it. I can hardly see it.
Any ideas how i release the connector? (one handed)

Thanks for the info.
I can confirm the switch was grey in colour.
Not only was it behind a large diameter air pipe but it was also very well hidden behind the clutch operating mechanism (Black plastic leading to a brassy coloured rod that operated the clutch lever on top of gearbox)
I found it was easier to remove the two stiffnuts that held the clutch operating linkeage to a large silver coloured fitting and then move the linkeage aside so i had full view of the switch.
To remove the plug i did need to pull the tag on the one side of the plug and then pull plug upwards. However due to fat fingers and very little access i did wedge a small watchmakers screwdriver under the tag and then prise plug off by levering gently on the plug body.
The switch then came out with a 22mm long reach socket.
Happy days.
I hope this thread is of help to anyone who may have to carry out the same job.
Thanks again to Forum moderator

Think Foggyy must have better eyesight than me !! I removed the thick breather pipe on the right hand side and shone various lights into the black hole, but could I find the switch, NO. This is going to cost me money !! :bang: I even bought a long 22mm. socket to remove the offending article , but I have to find it first. Any diagrams/photos out there ??

My Ducato is the base for a Hymer Motorhome.

OK, I have not been able to find mine either :(. But I needed to make an electrical connection so did this to the wiring in the cab.

Why have you needed to remove the switch? Was it faulty?

Hi
Have a look at the Pictures on here pic 37,38 & 39 might give you an idea where it is located. It is just to the left nearly under, where the top aluminium engine mount casting which is bolted with 3 studs to the lower black steel casting in which in turn is bolted to the top of the gearbox.
Looking from above it is behind/under the large air tube from the bottom of the air cleaner & also just behind the clutch slave cylinder. (if all that makes sense)

Hello Free spirit, I have just come across the same problem, unfortunatley your pictures are unavailable now, any chance you couls resend or forward them on to me , many thanks

Hi
The Pictures on Pacasaweb were linked to a post by Gary, I did save a copy of the Reversing switch ones. The vehicle he had was a 2.8TD I think, with a slightly different gearbox.
I have found it on my 2.8 JTD (after a lot of searching) & it is as described above under the Air cleaner & slightly under the gearbox mount, & can be seen with a little difficulty if it (air cleaner assembly) is removed, the Gearbox Breather is also visible with the air cleaner assembly removed & it is under the large air cleaner tube to the turbo if you move it (the Tube) out of the way slightly. I will attach the reverse switch pics from Garys' web. Next time I have the Air Cleaner assembly off I will take pics of mine & show the location of both the Reverse switch & breather.
Cheers
