Campervan Ducato 2.8 JTD owner - I am having a problem with the red seat belt warning light coming on for no reason - it comes on when driving alone and I have my seat belt on - it comes on when driving with a passenger and we both have our seat belts on. The light goes out when the ignition is turned off. There must be seat sensors somewhere - can anyone give me some clues please. Thanks. :bang:

As this is a motorhome conversion both seat are on a 'swivel' base and I can't see that there are any wires going into the seatbelt stalks - the seats would be unable to swivel properly if there were wires coming from somewhere to go into the stalk. Any other ideas? Thanks for your help so far.

Has the light ever worked properly?

I can only repeat what I said above (n.. switch in seat belt), I have rechecked & this feature is only connected to drivers seat. Was there wires there originally? Is van a import?

No, van is not an import, the light worked correctly until a few weeks ago - it went off when you put your seatbelt on and came on when you took your seatbelt off. Tried all permutations, seat belt on before turning on ignition, turn on ignition with no-one in seat, etc...... still a red warning light shining away on the dashboard! More of a minor nuisance than anything else!

Do we assume that you have two single front seats? I have a 2004 model which I've removed the twin front seat from which necessitates either fitting a resistor across the connector for the middle seat seat belt or leaving the seat belt connected to the wiring loom. The sensor is part of the seat belt reel. It may be this end that is the problem rather than the sensor that detects whether the belt is done up. This mnay be clutching at straws since I think it would throw up a seatbelt error warning rather than just a seatbelt light but may be worth considering.

repaired lots of swivel seats airbag/belt faults. Wiring comes up centre, done one yesterday infact.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread.......

Hi I've just replaced the bench seat with a single seat, Any chance you could tell me what value resistor should be fitted?

cheers

Did anybody get back with the resistor rating for the above post, or is there another way.?

IE.. If the drivers seat has the same connection could both the passenger amd drivers plug be joined so when the drivers belt is connected it signals both.?

I need to replace the double passenger seat with a single seat, so i am left with one extra connector for the pretensioner and is giving off a fault light because its not connected to anything.
Any ideas what would happen if i connected the spare connector for the middle missing seat to the single passenger seat pretensioner in parallel with the one that is already there, thus two floor connections for the twin passenger seat going to one passenger seatbelt pretensioner.?
