Hi all,
hope someone can help with this one.
i have a 2003 ducato 2.3 jtd panel van.
the van starts first time when cold but after around 10 minutes of driving the engine managment light comes on, but the van continues to run fine.
the problem comes when i switch off and then the van refuses to restart until it has cooled down (around an hour).
a local car electrical company has checked the van on its diagnostic machine and reports that when the warning light is off there are no fault codes showing, but when the light comes on the fault code 1320 appears.
they have suggested a number of possible causes.
1. camshaft sensor
2. crankshaft sensor
3. slipped cam belt
4. even possibly a fuel pump problem

3 and 4 to me seem pretty unlikely as the van runs fine until it is turned off.
I dont really want to spend hundreds of pounds replacing parts that may not be faulty, so i would appreciate any suggestions

HI HAVE YOU CHECKED FUEL SOL ON OFF SWICH ON DIESEL PUMP, THIS IS AN ELECTRONIC SOLANOID VALVE, WHEN HOT THY CAN JAM

hi Bas 155,
thanks for your reply.
i will give your idea a look as i am convinced the failure to start problem is fuel related, even if the warning light coming on is caused by another component, which is in turn tells the ecu to shut off the fuel supply.
if the fuel solenoid overheated and jammed, would it not cut the engine out while it was still running or would it remain open on a "get you home" basis then when turned off the solenoid would close until the engine cools.
Also is the fuel soleonid controlled by the engine managment system, so as to cause the warning light to come on as i am asured the fault only occurs when the warning light comes on, which is after around 5 to 10 of driving.
