I have recently purchased a 2003 Fiat 2.8jtd based Hymer with 12k miles. The engine runs well and pulls without problems but when the engine is at around 2100 rpm and pulling hard up an incline such as on a long motorway slope, as the accelerator approached 3/4 fully down, the engine (and I assume that it is the turbo) starts to squeal and sounds just as if the alternator belt is slipping or a water pump bearing is failing. If the situation is allowed to persist the dash warning light showing a turbo symbol lights up briefly until the accelerator is relaxed. If the accelerator is depressed hard to the floor the squeal is passed through and subsides but can reappear if the load increases.
I have adjusted and checked all of the obvious things and have tightened the alternator drive blet but to no avail, anyone experienced a similar situation?
