For the last 2 years I put up with my dodgy central locking on my Cargo JTD SX. The problem is that it seems that you have to stand very close to the van for the key fob to work reliably. Just wondered if this was the norm for other Doblo owners as my Ulysse works from about 50m away!!

I had the batteries renewed by Stonacre but it made very little diffrence.

Cheers, Fran

Central locking on Mrs O's seems to depend on the time of day and the wind direction. Sometimes I can't do it from the front door - about 10 feet - other times it will work from yards away!

Exactly what I have experienced! If you hold the key against the driver window it more or less works every time, sometimes it works from about 10 feet from the back doors, sometimes I nearly break my fingers trying to press the fob so bleedin' hard:cry:

Anybody know of a solution? Other than get rid of the whole van!

Cheers, Fran

I never had a problem with my Fiat fob, but when I had my Cobra alarm fitted I had a separate fob to use which as well as unlocking the doors turns off the alarm in different stages. This Cobra fob I have a bit of trouble with quite often, probably because the receiver is in the engine bay and I generally unlock it from the rear.

So it could be something to do with where the receiver and it's areal is located, and if it can be located it could be as simple as extending the areal with a bit of wire :)

try what Clarkson did on Top Gear... stand a long way back from the van, put the key against the side of your head, then press the button. It worked for him, but what is it doing to your brain cells

Clarkson has even been near a Dobbie!! That I've got to see. Bet he gave it a lousy review.:bang:

Sorry, I gave the wrong impression, it wasn't a Dobbie, can't remember which car it was. I just remember him having trouble with the remote locking on a test car and he said that it could be improved by holding the key to your head, and he proved it... Supposedly

Your not alone Frantic; Mines dodgy too, changed the battery in the keyfob but still it's somewhere between poor and completely rubbish :(

Finally got really fed up with this remote locking problem so I decided to get it sorted.

I enquired about a new key from Fiat but they wanted over £200 for a new key! There's no way I was going to fork out this sort of money and risk the new key not solving the problem, so I bought a remote keyless entry system off e/bay. Cost about £20 and works really well (over 20m away!!) - even transferred my spare key blade to the new fob without much hassle.

Have not yet found the wires to make the indicators blink or to auto wind up the window but I'm sure I will crack this soon. Have also noticed that the transponder in the spare key didn't work so I will have to rip it out of the master. It looks like the transponder needs to be really close to the barrel in order for it to work!

If anyone wants the link to this kit then let me know.

My Doblo key fob usually works ok but every now and then it just packs up completely and then for no apparent reason starts working again
