Hi All

I'm looking for a used (y) Doblo family - the seven seater version. Anybody any ideas where's the best place to get one for less than £10 k?

I'm coming over from Ireland where second hand ones are like hen's teeth. A new one will cost about €22 k which is good value over here but still a rip off! :bang:

Thanks for your help. :D (y)

Thanks Doblo

Check this out lets say I buy the new Doblo over there for £10k - that's about €15k then bring it home and register it I have to pay €4400 VRT ( Vehicle Registration Tax ) just to register it. AGAH!!:bang: :bang: :bang:

Nothing like double taxation...:bang:

Thanks Doblo

If you bought a second hand Doblo would you still have to pay to register it? If not why not get someone to buy the Doblo from fiatsupasaver & then resell it to you as second hand? Or am I just dreaming?

Good idea..but guess what - for me to bring in a car that's mine say I emigrated and was coming home - I'ld have to own the car for at least 6 months so I couldn't just buy one and come home. :bang: And yes they have custom's and exise people floating around in unmarked cars keeping a sharp eye for yellow plated cars and watching their movements ready to pounce!:yuck:

The easiest way would be to buy one that was written off here and buy a replacement somewhere else and then swap identities  . 2 years ago I was offered a Xantia TD which was taxed as a 1.8 not a 1.9 ( which falls into the 2 litre category (n) ). The car was a UK import as it had GPS which no longer worked and some voice which spoke to me when I stalled the car :D yes the car spoke and it had an English accent. I was told just to ignore her and keep going :D :D .....so I did. (y) I reckon that car was a replacement for a 1.8 that was written off and the paperwork was still good. Highly illegal but if you sold enough to exceed the fine wouldn't it be worth it ?  (n)

Of course, If bought and registered the car with an english relative or friend on the log book, you could just drive it and say you were borrowing it with the owners consent.

I heard a rumour that if a person had an English ( say relative ) who "owned" the new vehicle for 6 to 12 months and then came to live in Ireland then that person could register the car in Ireland as their own. Once registered then it could be "sold on".

Sneaky :p

Ideal for occasional use vehicles which wouldn't be on the road or needed like a new Doblo! (y)

Good idea Ozzie but I already tried that and I think they're all dead in there! :bang:

Just thought a second hand one would be easy enough to pick up over there - they're like hen's teeth over here except for a few 1.2's :D :D :D eh no thanks I'ld rather the straight 1.9 diesel :p

I went down to a dealer today -not John Linnane in Rathnew where they refused to replace my tyres ( the wrong ones were fitted from new, long story...(n) ) but Paschal Kennedy's in Dun Laoghaire. They are a Fiat service agent, Alfa dealer from years ago ( they lost their Alfa dealership when Lancia went lhd ). (n) Anyway they said they can't find any second hand Doblos so I might have to order a new one  (y) So what the hell we might as well.....:slayer:

I would love a 1.9 JTD Ozzie only if you 'll pay my road tax - its €539 per annum on a 1.9 / 2.0 litre. Nice eh....:yuck: :yuck: :yuck:

Road tax is based on engine size here -so the bigger the engine the higher the road tax (n) (n)

It's not unknown for engine changes to be done on older cars - especially on diesels and something bigger falling in ;)

Ever since the Euro change over EVERYTHING went up. Initially everything was penny to cent correct then slowly but surely up crept prices - so BEWARE! We now live in a Rip off Republic (n)

I suppose fuel isn't too bad here after seeing prices in London about €1 per litre of either petrol or diesel :)

Ah but sure the craic is mighty! :D :D :D
