Just thought I'd pass this warning on. The rear door strut/s failed suddenly, and the door fell onto my wife whilst she was loading the boot. Fortunately she is 6 ft tall, so the door hadn't fallen far when it hit her. Still gave her a scare. What would've happened if our kids had been standing there? That is a heavy door!
It's booked in for a warranty repair. Its an 05 JTD with 20,000 miles, so relatively young.
Just be careful out there.

The only time I've ever had one fail is on an old car where the boot would close slowly indicating that the gas struts had gone.

It's strange that it happened suddenly as there must have been some sort of damage or leak for the gas to escape from the cylinder. Perhaps a seal was at fault? Probably a one off as this isn't a common problem with Doblo's.

Glad you're getting it sorted though ;)

My Doblo had the other type of rear doors must admit I never fancied the thought of standing under the other type.

Perhaps we should start selling a new 'aftermarket' accessory for Doblos with tailgates?

A friend's E Class estate had the same problem.
Manufacturers don't make these small components, but buy them in; sometimes there will be a faulty one.
