Hello i have just purchased a Fiat Doblo Cargo Van for work . After checking it over everything is fine apart from the water reservoir for the cooling system. Once it has reached a certain pressure it bubbles out of the cap which means its losing water. Ive also noticed the heater inside is only blowing cold air out. could it be air locked ? The temperature gauge doesnt overheat would a new cap solve the problem over the bubbling?

No not over filled but i have noticed the rubber seal thats inside the cap is not there so i went to the car shop today and bought a new cap ill fit in the morning

Let us know how you get on, if you are having problems with your heater as well then it may be worth taking a look at the heater matrix and it's connecting pipes :)

well ive fitted the new cap with rubber ring inside ill check in the daytime tomorrow to see if its still leaking. With regards to the heater not being warm i dont know ill check on the matrix

My reservoir was leaking from the pipe thats feeds back in so I replaced with a whole new reservoir the part was cheap from fiat and was a easy job. With regards the heaters the ones on mine also used to only blow cold and were very weak at blowing. I was told it was to do with having no gas in the aircon.

Location of thermostat

Hello i think it is the thermostat thats jammed could you advise me as to were its located ?is it from the top hose off the radiator? There a metal housing that the pipe goes into bit difficult to get at but i think i can manage it.

Replacement thermostat

Hello well ive bought a new unit for my doblo Van . And ive asked a mechanic to have a look and replace it. After having a look myself theres a lot of pipes that feed off the thermostat unit and it looked a bit fiddly. Ive asked a number of people who are knowledgable with vehicles and all have said it sounds like the thermostats stuck shut. Ill keep you informed of how it goes thanks for the advice off everyone cheers

Bad news unfortunatley it is the head gasket ive got a mechanic coming on thursday .Its too bad to drive overheats alot and creates too much pressure will cost £300-£400 but its worth it as the van is in good condition and low mileage

At last after having the head Skimmed, pressure tested, new gasket fitted, new bolts, new cam belt and tensioner it doesnt overheat anymore. Trevor the mechanic has done a brilliant job. He put it down to the head gasket on the Doblo is of a metal construction therefore it doesnt "seat" into cylinder head. He pointed out it wasnt "seated" correctly on number 4 piston which means the tinyiest of gaps would result in too much pressure being created. Thanks to everyone who helped me out at last i can now use my Cargo Van for work.
