..online and when it was delivered the manuals are all in Italian.

I have a question...

With the ignition key positions position 1 is no radio, no side lights just interior lights.

Position 2 is no radio no lights but ignition lights glow plug etc

Position 3 starts

When you turn the ignition off to P2 you have no radio, lights but the interior lights come on

Is this this normal?

I did not have a great start to ownership as when it was delivered it broke down with a jammed starter motor and had to be jumpstarted and taken to the nearest Fiat garage.

Fiat fixed it quickly, less than 6 working hrs and am pleased with fuel consumption and general performance so far.:)

I just find this ignition thing strange.

Sounds completely normal, takes a bit of getting used to!
If the same as ours (1.9jtd) you should have a button on the rim below the ignition key. Press that and turn the key back past the 'off' position and you get side lights for parking.
On ours we have just found, after two years!", that you can turn the radio on with the ignition off, just by pressing the 'on' button on the radio!

Thanks for your help with this (y) ... much appreciated :) It will save me a trip to he dealer! Time is precious!!

My wife loves the van and we hope it has been a wise choice long term.

This forum is fascinating with every aspect being covered!!

Welcome to the forum Cicero33! (y)

Glad we've been able to help you out so soon! Unfortunately because I have an aftermarket radio I can't listen to it without the ignition switched on :( which is a darn pain cause I fear I'll damage ignition components by leaving the ignition on.

The whole sidelight thing does make you a bit lazy though, I can't remember the last time I turned mine off with all the bad weather we've been having lately :p

this side light feature is this also on older model doblo's? Never seen a button! :)

As far as I know it's on most Fiat's!

Leave your lights on and turn off the igniton... if they go out completely you have a little button right underneath the ignition barrel :)
