Hi,

Just picked up my 04 plate Doblo van. 124000 miles but immaculate!

Problem is the rear doors dont always open! You can lock and unlock them but when you try to open the left door the handle moves but does not always unlatch. When it does eventually work all is ok. Any ideas?

Great site by the way!

Hi Jools

Welcome to the forum....where's Ozzie he normally officially welcomes all newcomers...:D

Anyway I have the exact same problem. What I do is unlock the van remotely and then wait. Stop and then open the back door and she opens ok. The door is a bit lazy and if you try to open too quick she says "No back off I'm not ready yet!" :p

When my Doblo was but a young thing I locked her up, but the back door wasn't shut properly and guess what it happened. Except she would never open remotely from then on. I brought her back to FIAT and they repaired it under warranty !!!!!!:slayer: :slayer: :slayer:
I was told there is a plastic arm which drives the lock mechanism to both lock and unlock the back door and it had just broken. (y) Good old Fiat (y) High quality stuff!!(y)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply Alfa!

Stupid question - has the cargo got central locking? Bought the van without the manual so just trying to see how stuff works at the moment. Any areas I should be looking out for?

Jools:)

My 2002 JTD SX has remote central locking as standard - as far as I know all models have it. :D

Mine often doesn't react if I'm standing at the rear of the van - I have steel doors and a steel bulkhead no windows all the way through. I have to wave my hand up past the rear lights to open her up  Pure odd, but she wouldn't be Italian if it worked Germanically!! :p

Thanks for the replies chaps!

Odd stuff happening but first need to find out if van is SX version. At the moment I am locking / unlocking the doors manually so will have to check to see if central locking fitted. Any recommendations for a fiat spares place that wont rip you off?

I'm based in Rossendale, Lancashire.

Sorted the doors!

Removed the lock assy and found that the simple locking plunger was sticking due to a small amount of corrosion. Oild it and now shes fine!

Oh how I have dreamed of simple repairs!

hi autosave in pimehole fold, bury have a doblo breaking its 5mins from rossendale if thats any help!!!

Just had this problem with my Cargo
03 model
it's was due to the unlocking mechanism which is lubricated with a very thick Grease which eventually clogs up the plunger that's locks and unlocks the door, the solution was to spray it with wd40, mine works perfectly now,
the inside door handle is connected directly to door catches so is unaffected
