My flat mostly
I need new windscreen wipers.

Where's the best/cheapest deal,

dealer or Halfords - do Halfords stock them even?

And can I (easily) change them myself. I have been able to on previous cars, but......

I saw some in Tesco Extra for less than £4 a pair. I don't think they do mixed sizes as needed on the Doblo but at these prices buy a pair of each size needed and you'll have a nice new set for next time.

I have no idea if the quality is any good but if after you've tried them they turn out to be rubbish there should be no problem getting your money back.

I've just bought some at Halfords for about £16, plus £3 for fitting - yes, I know:shakehead

Anyway. They are a huge improvement.

My others were three years old and passed it. The breakdown in performance just creeps up unnoticed - like with me really:(

Thanks for the suggestions.

Ohh yess....

My original wipers lasted... 6 months, I replaced them with "those halfords specials" fitted them myself... They are now virtually worn out, lots of noise etc.....

I believe there are some blades only which will outlast most ..... they just need a litle more time to fit.... any ideas .... ???

Intersting about Poundland.

I'll look for next time.

I needed them quickly as I'm doing a lot of night driving and rain is forecast.

Six months is hopeless durability. What sort of mileage was that?

I have to say, every time I wash the windscreen, which is much more often than I clean the car:cool: , I wipe the blades and check there is nothing trapped. I do kinda make sure that the working bits are as optimuim as possible, even if the car is itself a mess.

We sell just the "rubber's" in Halfords for about £7 a pair, and although they do take a little more time to fit they are good. You just slide out the old rubber by bending it past the end piece of the end of the wiper blade and put the new one back in the same way you got the old one out. You actually get 8 pieces in the set, but only 2 rubbers and then the different top halves to slide into the metal wiper for different cars.

Only wipers I know, but those Halfords jobbies were on the go a lot last night, and they swept cleanly and quietly.

Can't ask more from windscreen wipers!

I fitted a set of wipers to my last car a mitsubishi L200, was in a hurry one night driving on the motorway in really heavy rain when the drivers side wiper flew off :D ended up having to put the passenger one on the driver side and then bend the passenger arm up so it didnt scrap the windscreen to get home.
