Well I'm just finishing my first week of Doblo ownership, we're really pleased with it, only one Merc owner has got fighting angry when I overtook him and the first tank seems to have disappeared at ~38mpg.

I haven't seen anything in the manual about running in, the sales people were clueless and the engine feels ready to go. Any 'running in' advice? It doesn't feel like it needs it.

As with any car really just take it easy for the first few hundred miles, don't go thrashing it about everywhere... although I'm sure you won't do that anyway :p you'll also see your MPG improve the more miles you, as you may have seen on the forum it's taken some new Doblo's up to 3000 miles to fully reach their optimum MPG as this is all part of the running in (Although an engine is run in well before 3000 miles).

Other than that just keep it nice and clean :p and enjoy it! The more you drive it and the better the MPG gets you'll learn the engine and find out when it's best to change gear etc etc. Like I know I can floor it when I need too but if I get it at the right rev range (ie. just as the turbo kicks in) I won't use up too much fuel rather than flooring it before the turbo kicks in. For town driving optimum gear change of an unloaded Doblo would be about 2000 rpm, unless it's very hilly, you are carrying lots of people/a load, you're doing motorway work or you just want to show everyone how fast these Doblo's can go :D

I went the Honestjohn route too.

No probs.

Three points though:

1. Check your oil level regularly, at least for the first year.
I needed to top up twice in the first twelve months. Nothing in subsequent years though; the engine is settled and runs like a dream.

2. Don't labour in too high a gear. Better to rev a little than slog it.

3. Don't rev too high when it's cold. Wait until the temp guage has moved off the 'cold' before going above 3000rpm. I have friend who jumps in, switches on, and then hits max revs immediately. His cars always run perfectly for three years (Japanese), and then they start burning oil and/or blow up.
