Hi everyone, I have just joined your forum after doing a search for a doblo forum,
Bought my Doblo Cargo is april it is a 53 Reg 1.9 diesel non turbo in red
I have done roughly 35,000 since april as I work as a courier so its mostly motorway miles it does.It currently has 94,500 miles on the clock,
Had to replace the whole exhaust from the cat back at about 62,000 miles and the down pipe at about 87,000
had a replacement water pump fitted at 82,000 it strarted leaking and had another water leak from a tiny pipe under the inlet manifold which took a bit of finding, that was replaced at 90,000,
Apart from that I am pleased with the doblo and am considering another one when I replace this one next year.
Have seen a foriegn version called the cargo maxi which looks like a strecthed version of mine, looks about a metre longer. Can you buy them here does anyone know ?

Welcome to the forum Mack (y) glad you came and said Hi!

You'll get on really well with Niall G as both he and his wife are couriers but don't let him put you off the doblo ;)

You probably won't be able to get those over here, as you know the new Doblo has been around a few months now and they haven't said anything about different versions.

Glad your enjoying your van (y) keep us updated... Niall's wifes Doblo has done 200,000 miles since 2004 ;)

Hi Mack,

As Ozzie says Mrs_G runs a Doblo JTD sx for courier work.

Its had a few problems but nothing major. (Wiper mechansim fell apart, EGR valve stuck, 5th gear fell off, clutch failed). Not brilliant but not disasterous either.

Keep it serviced and get any minor faults seen to before they become major problems. Use an independant garage and forget the warranty unless you want something to wipe your bum on.

Take your time, its better to be late with a delivery than early at the pearly gates - or flaming pit in my case!

This is the first Fiat I've ever owned, always stayed away from them cause I thought they werent very good, but the doblo has changed my mind, its not perfect and does have its faults but for a cheap fairly new van, you can't go wrong
I usually stick to ford but when you look at the price of a similar age Ford Transit Connect, they are a lot dearer.
My car that I use at the weekend is a ford though, its a Ford Cougar 2.5 litre V6, nice and fast, but gets about half the fuel comsumption that my doblo gets

Ford's are good, reliable, strong and you just can't beat the Transit (except maybe with a Sprinter but you pay £3k more) however I believe their Transit Connect's internal dimensions are smaller, certainly in height, and plus the Doblo's are more car like so should I look at a vehicle like this again perhaps when I renew this one, I would choose no other :D

you can't beat the doblo for size in the back, its usually full size pallets that I carry and you have no problem getting them in the back

Mmmmmm all car makers have good & bad cars in their range, personally I think the transits are awful, high pressure pumps breaking up(same system as merc sprinters which have same fault) central locking problems, rear drums that have to be cut off with a grinder, starter motor & front suspension problems...nah give me ducato anyday(ever wondered why Tesco stopped using transits for home deliveries?)especially the new ducato...great van, trust me;)
Old style transits are better(y)

He sure does, and I do agree with your views on the transit

I remember trying to change the rear drums ahhh deary me, in the end took it to Ford garage who had to send the van away to use an oversized industrial puller to get it off! And having to grind out the front wheel bearings!

But all in all it's been a good van to us :)
