Hi all, just became the driver of a previously unloved 05 plate Doblo 1.9JTD. It has done 17,000 miles and is over due for her first service.

If I service it myself using FIAT parts does this invalidate the warranty?

The previous owner said he had an aftermarket CD head unit fitted but it didn't fit properly, stuck out the front a bit. Does the doblo require a special head unit or will a standard one do?

I have seen other Doblos with a third row of seats, can you buy the separately and bolt it on or do you need a doblo that is designed for this?

Thanks for any help

Hello there, glad you've joined the Doblo community here at the FF! (y)

To answer a few of your questions:

1) It needs to be serviced by Fiat in order to retain the warranty I am led to believe however I'll find out more

2) Most will fit, but you need to dismantle the dash to fit it in properly as you have to fiddle around with the wiring blocks in order to get it to slide all the way in, then assemble the dash back around it (done this myself)

3) I would have thought the Doblo will handle it (in terms of suspension etc) as someone on here bolted 2 recaro seats down in the back of his, so it's probably possible to do but you will have to drill the floor etc. and this could be tricky

Hope everything goes well for you and your Doblo, perhaps you could post up some pictures for us (y)

Hi Ozzie
I looked into the servicing issue when I was running the Van from new .apparently the Govenment stepped in at some point and forced the monopoly issue, so that any garage can now do the service but must show that they have used the OEM. parts.
rgds.
Clive:) :)

Thanks guys.

Bought CD headunit and service manual from ebay. Girlfriend has stuck some stars on today, looks good. Fitted a set of wheel trims and two new wheels and tyres front wheels had been kerbed a few times. Will post some pics when I finish cleaning it.

Browsing ebay for ideas for mods. Any suggestions?

How do you mean 'mods' :p

Interior/Exterior/Audio... browse around a few threads in the section and you'll see some modding ideas... Check out the thread 'Doblo Abarth' for some awsome exterior styling ;)

thinking interior / external mods.

Fitted some new seat covers from halfords and some industrial rubber mat as a boot protector today.

Would like to do more to the inside to make it look a bit less boring.

If it's not had a service for 17000 miles, should it have had one at 12000? If so, the warranty may have ben invalidated. I think part of the conditions are that you must have it serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's schedule.

Actually H you're right... The garage should have done this service before they gave it to you Alan as they would know it would invalidate the warranty. Get back in touch with the Garage ASAP and ask them about it as my garage had to do mine before they could sell it to me.

Didn't get it at a garage- used to be driven by my girlfriends ex who know S.F.A. about cars-got it as part of divorce settlement. (Incidently knows SFA about women too..... From Alan's Girlfriend). I was glad to hear that he thinks the H reg badly painted Jetta that he ended up with is "great".

Anyway, got service manual from ebay today, went to dealers, got filters and done the service myself. Usually do this with all my cars since I spoke to someone who worked as an engineer for a dealer and told me how it was common practice to cut corners and not do services properly.

Also fitted a CD player today (Another ebay purchase). Will be installing my sat-nav soon too. Old radio cassette will be available on ebay shortly.

In the process of picking alloys and thinking of further mods.

Obviously a 'engineer' (called technicians these days) with little pride in his work then!

Services can be carried out at ANY garage aslong as they are VAT registered & using genuine parts.

You can reinstate your warranty for a fee,any existing faults on the car are not covered.
