Ok, phoned up LC Motors in Newport today to ask about my problems with the Doblo that could hopefully be repaired under warranty. Just in case you don't know here they are:

1. Dashboard regularly looses power
2: Squeaky Rear Suspension
3: Driver side sliding door central locking not working properly
4: "Clicking" drivers door
5: Squeaking rear windows

They told me that they couldn't do the rear door, the squeaking windows or the clicking door under warranty and that they would TRY to sort out the dashboard for me, and that they could definately do the rear suspension.

So, 2 out of 5, could be worse, but could be a hell of a lot better if you ask me! I'll see what they can do first, and if not I'll do them myself I think, just shows how crap the Fiat 3rd year warranty is though :(

Any chance they could sort out the limp dick while their at it :p

Oi! Nothing wrong with my Limp Dick! At least you can see mine ;)

Although I may suggest it when I call up Motor Services of Chepstow tomorrow to see what they say, since I bought it from them :D

Fiat Warranty

Now let think about it............. Oh yeah, Its Effing 5h1te!

"We've had your money, we'll do our best not to pay, go and f**k yourself!" - I'm sure its their mind set. What a bunch of :tosser: :tosser: :tosser: 's

I'd now like to go into my well practiced spiel about taking every opportunity to tell other potential customers about how crap Fiat warranty is and how many other owner drivers have expressed an interest in Mrs_G's Cargo only to be put off by the tale of how an 'unlimited mileage' warranty is anything but, etc .......

Not as bitter as I used to be, must be the thought of the number of sales I've cost these w@nkers.

AHH! Thats better..................

I seeee!

By the way your comment in my post about the Welsh Motor show on "Polishing" encouraged a lot of banter between us at the show :p

I assume you have a very well developed right arm/wrist from all that 'polishing'.

PS. Those glasses have very thick lenses and you seem to have forgotten to shave your palms this morning!!

No major manufacturer covers rattles/squeaks at this period(most after one year)or locks.I use to get fed up being shouted at when I worked at other garages(non Fiat) I just used to walk away when customers moaned about locks etc not being under 3 year (and some cases 5) year warranties.
Personally I think the problems arise when the third year policy is not fully explained by salesman in thats its not Fiat but third party.
Your dashboard losing power (you mean cluster?) could be a wiring fault (if its 3rd year you pay) so I assume they are renewing a part, cluster or body computer?

The same problem happened with my friends fathers works van too, the cluster looses power thus resetting the clock and all the guages return to resting position for anywhere between 3seconds and 1minute.

Basically, LC said they could probably sort the dash, but if not then MS Chepstow would because I bought it from them not so long ago and is considered a major fault, they also said they should sort the other problems too so we'll see :)

*UPDATE*: MS Chepstow are going to look at all the problems now and sort as many of them as possible for me under warranty, so there is some hope! But I've got to go all the way up there on monday, a good 60miles either way so I hope they do sort it!

Ok took the long trek up to Chepstow this morning in the traffic, dropped off my car, went back through all the traffic tonight 8 hours after I dropped it off and here's the verdict:

1: Dash console loosing power, everything checked nothing wrong
2: Drivers door clicking, sorted (bit of oil)
3: Creaking rear suspension, don't know will have to find out (so I politely told them that LC Motors in Newport know about it and to speak to them as they obviously know more than you do)
4: Squeaky rear windows, been out on a test drive can hear it can't do nothing
5: Sliding door central locking, had to order part so you'll have to bring it back when it comes in

So what they hell have they been doing in those 8 hours considering mine was first on in the morning! Grrr (n) not a happy bunny, and after all that travelling and a courtesy car that didn't steer in a straight line! He also mentioned that not a lot of it can even be done under warranty, the lock should be and since that's all they've done they better not charge me! Especially as the car went back with more fuel than it went out with -1mile left to go in the tank.

Oh well, rant over :)

No they just sent me away with the courtesy car... even though I'd spoken to someone over the phone and they said I could perhaps stay a while and see what was happening. It's a very small garage, they only have 2 or 3 mechanics at the most, and only space for 2 cars in their garage.

Maybe I should have taken it to LC Motors, it's a much bigger garage, I thought cause it's small they may give the extra touch that bigger garages don't :(

With any intermittent fault you can almost forsee that the fault wont occur in the workshop....sods law!
There is a Fiat diagnosis sheet available for jobs like this...involving customer & tech to detail when fault(s) occur/conditions etc & also a test drive with tech(pref with customer driving)this gives the tech more time/chance to pinpoint the area of the fault & finding it.
Another advantage of this is you wont be so pi*sed off if the fault cant be found as its intermittent & they were with you during test drive, you cant find something that isn't there at the time.

Ozzie big tip as an ex Renault Laguna owner ( just check parkers for faults with that car) always always go out with the head man on a test run or at least show him directly the faults you say you have especially squeeks and knocks as most of the time they don't know what to look for as the message gets watered down.

As for the 3 year warranty thing all after market and 3 year dealer warranties don't cover such things Wear & tear being there ace up the sleeve.

Check the small print engine , gearbox, some electrics, turbo (maybe) abs(maybe) some suspension and driveshafts not all, interior trim no way.

Its a lottery up for interpretation, but don't take it lying down if not happy go elsewhere and demand work be done. No business likes an irate customer on the premises!!
