Technical Doblo 3rd Year Warranty

Sorry to here you are disappointed Neill_G it's a fine line sometimes, all warranties are open to interpretation Fiat says they will replace or repair faults due to defective materials or workmanship as do most manufacturers, you could take it up with your local trading standards department but if something was to wear out due to heavy use it would be another matter.

I recently had a similar issue with a German car company who refused to replace a lock saying it was fair wear and tear, if it had been an inexpensive vehicle I would have excepted this it but this was an expensive vehicle! my local trading standards department had a word and surprise surprise they replaced the lock but only as a sign of good will mind ;)

Sometimes it just takes a little push by showing your willing to take things further to get things done. But as with Niall's problems I don't know if that would have worked. Glad to see you had success with it though :)

Still trying to get to bed. Not tired enough.

This debate is better than anything on the box right now. Ozzie, you should be writing a sit-com.

Really though; the dealers do seem to vary a lot. I have been lucky. I had a leaking A/C condenser tube, which they took a while to change, trying unsuccessfully to fix it first. But change it they did eventually. And it was only a few drops of water on the carpet for heaven's sake, so no point in getting too angsty about it. More recently, and only just within the third year, and probably not covered, I had the rear wiper arm scratching the glass. It was doing this almost from new, but I didn't make too much fuss. Well, vandalism has required me to have new back and front windows (Johnny yobbo out for a night's consitutional and just taking in a few cars in the road at random - normal for England!!!) and when the wiper started on the new glass I decided on action. The chief machanic at my dealer had a look and, when I pointed out that the latest model has a redesigned wiper, he promptly took one off a new display car and fitted it to my car - in two minutes - for nothing. How about that! I was chuffed as hell, and very grateful.

They have been like that from the beginning, indeed, when I stupidly put petrol in the thing thay had me sorted in half a day, with a loan car and a call to the filling station (BP) to get me the direct complaints number. In case anyone needs to know, BP has a dedicated number for people who put the wrong fuel in their cars. There are hundreds a week apparently. The fuel has to be the expensive stuff (forget the name), but with the receipt they will pay all costs, even to a new engine. Nuts, why not just paint the pumps a different colour. Anyway, I emailed the head honcho at the main dealer in London to say thanks for all the kindness and the great service, and thought no more of it. Next time I was in the garage, months later, the mechanic came up and said thanks - apparently someone had come down from London to give them all a pat on the back. So perhaps we all should say thanks now and again instead of just complaining all the time.

Oh yes. Someone at the garage told me that there is a heater matrix weakness with Doblos. He also said there might be some proprietry gunk you can put in the cooling system to 'protect it/clean it? which comes with a guarantee that promises to replace any part of the system, including radiators etc. within a year should they fail for any purpose. Is this nuts, or is there such a product? I might go and have a word later in the week and see, given that the cost of a failed heater is c.£1000!

Ever since my little mis-fuelling escapade I have been welcomed at my dealer with a 'hallo trouble' and a smile. Well, fine by me. (Or are they waiting for my engine to explode - paranoia). They do their best, and customers can be vile. And as for that thread about a failed wiper mechanism at gazillions of miles; well, how much would it cost just to pay and forget about it. The anger and emotional strain must be knocking years off your life. I know it's a principle, but now you'll have to drive a lesser vehicle and won't be able to buy a Fiat again. Ever. Shame this cos they're getting better all the time.

Oh, Ozzie, what's a squeaking window exactly? Might a little vaseline fix it?
Just wondered. Good luck anyway.

Enough. Must hit the cocoa and get my head down.

Dealerships change techs/managers quite regulary, what was a garage with a poor reputation might now be good.
Alot of complaints about dealers here only tell one side of the story (I know this personally) i'd try a garage at least twice before I would try another.

It'll never happen ;)

Who told you that! its a dash out job but easily done in a day so your looking about £4-500 max!

Normally towards female reception staff, which shows little respect in my opinion.

Too right(y) Not perfect or anywhere near it & Fiat know that but they are definately getting there:)

I was interested to read your post Ulpian concerning accidental petrol filling at a BP station as I was stupid enough to do just that, fortunately I realized before I put to much in. I immediately filled her up with derv and got away with it :D If I had realized BP would pay to rectify this I would not have taken the risk
Incidentally my heater/air con matrix failed my dealer replaced it at no charge in just a few hours :)

Well they must have worked like demons as I left the vehicle 9am and they phoned me to collect it at 14.00 pm:D

Ok well an update :)

Arrived at dealership only to find they hadn't reserved me a courtesy car even though this was done over the phone. So car was put into workshop and done straight away. A little cheesed off and in trouble with my boss I must say so an hour or so later it was all done and as a goodwill gesture they greased the anti-roll bar bushes for me - hasn't seemed to help yet though!

Now they haven't replaced the dash, i've been assured there's nothing wrong with the wiring as it's been checked a few times now so if it goes wrong again they'll replace the whole thing. Sliding door lock replaced, I can now open the door from the outside again :)

So all in all im happy the things are sorted - not so happy with the fuel bills travelling the 30odd miles each way every time and if the dash goes wrong I'll be asking them for a reimbursment! - But lets hope it doesnt :)

Oh, Ozzie, what's a squeaking window exactly? Might a little vaseline fix it?
Indeed it will Ulpian, but why do it yourself if you can get it done under warranty ;) shall be applying vaseline tomorrow and possibly putting her up on ramps to oil those suspension bushes again :)

You have me worried now T4086 because I don't believe they worked through lunch, are you suggesting they used something out of a tin  I did notice a minor problem with the air bag light coming on intermittently a couple of times after the work but it seems to have cured itself.
