Hy Guys
Im a new owner of a doblo cargo 1,3 multijet im a littel worried or just a littel paranoic ( to be decided later...)
The facts :
I have it for like 3 weeks has on board abot 700 miles
Ran it at about ~ 2500-3000 RPM max with the Air Cond On almost all of the time.
Fuel consummation exactly as in the book (y)
Runs well no noises .
The Questions
My first Q is at about 300 miles ived checked the exhust and inserted my finger in it(the exhust) and there wasnt nothing there ( no particles , noyhing) today just checked it againg and saw on my finger after i pulled it out black particles quite a lot , i wasnt to worried but checked up with a friend of mine has the same model about 1600 miles on it but no black particles in the exhust ...... there is no smoke when i rev the engine.
Should i worry about that is there any explications to this ? about 100 miles i drove some mountains roads ( emty but with the air cond on )
The other Q is at what Rmp should u change the gear up and down , this is my first diesel so please bear with me :D
Any other recomandations for a new owner:worship:

Hello there and welcome to the forum :D

I wouldn't worry too much about getting black soot in the exhaust, all Diesels will always smoke a little (especially when cold or flat out on the accelerator) and the smoke is sooty anyway.

I usually change at about 3000RPM for motorway/fast road driving, but if I'm pottering around town I'll change about 2000RPM as I don't need to be getting anywhere in a hurry! One of the best tips is when it comes to changing down, if for example you're climbing a mountain, change down when you reach about 2000RPM so that you stay within the range of the turbo (if your car has one? I'm not sure ) - 2000RPM plus. Doing this will enure the turbo is still working so you get that extra kick.

Other than this, you'll find out when the best times are to change up and down, every car is slightly different so it's best to experiment! Just be careful when pulling out of junctions/roundabouts as Diesels aren't as quick off the mark as petrols until the Turbo kicks in :)

Ozzie thank you for your answer , went to the dealer a few days ago and enterd to talk to the head mechanic he told me " try using it around 3000 rpm beacuse its a new type of engine 16 valves etc.." regarding the black particles he told me its all about the driving style ;) and exactly what kind of diesel you use .
Il will use it at 2500 rpm think this enough , regarding if my engine was a turbine the answer is yes , fiat also produces a 1,3 ( but 85 bhp ) that has an variable turbo , it wasnt an option for the cargo so i went for the 75 bhp.

Thanks again(y)

Vet....your car is fitted with a DPF (diesel particulate filter) filter in the exhaust system, this catches all those black soot particules we hate so much! Every so often the DPF will 'regenerate' (whilst driving) & clear these particles out by burning them at very high temperatures. The system is fully automatic and requires no maintenance unless the warning light is on indicating the possibility of a clogged filter, this can be cleaned by Fiat dealer who will carry out a 'forced regeneration' using examiner diagnostic equipment.(y)

Let me say this forum is Great INFO source .
