Hi I have had a doblo for two years now, 2001784 miles on the clock, there is a rattel when the car is on tickover, I have been told that it is the air con mec that is ratteling, I that needs to be done is a smaller fan belt to bypass it and everything will be ok, is this true.

Any Help would be most appreciated.

Graeme.:)

Hello there! Unfortunately I'm not sure what your suggesting in your question, are you changing the Aux Belt or are you trying to put another belt on?

Also, just a little tip :p don't submit the same post twice, as this will clog up the forum! Be patient and one of us will try and answer your question as soon as we can :)
Cheers, Oz

Hes asking if he can put a non-aircon belt on his car as he doesn't want the expense of repairing the compressor,I think it can be done but need to look at layout of the belt routes first...........which I cant really do now as found the southern comfort:D

I do appoligise but my computor crashed, and I did not think that the origional post had been sent, not being impatient, the comp is now fixed.

Unlikethe car. Would the compressor be an expensive job? or just easier changing the belt.

Many Thanks

Graeme.

I'm impressed by a Doblo that's done over two million miles!

I think that should be 200,000 miles which is just as impressive.

I'd be interested to know how old the Doblo in question is. Mrs_G's Cargo JTDSX currently has (see my sig below) miles on it - Registered Jan 04 on a '53 plate.

At the time of this message the clutch thrust bearing is just starting to make a noise. We are taking 10 days off in mid September and plan to have a new clutch fitted while we are away provided the current clutch lasts until then.(That will be about another 7 - 8,000 motorway miles).

Just for a laugh I asked for a quote from a Fiat dealer - £665! HAHAHAHAHA!!! They must think I'm stupid...... I'll get it done by my excellent local independant dealer for much less.

It is on a 02 plate, it was used as a taxi when I got it, sorry about the milage but yes it is 200,000 miles and still going strong.

It only rattles on tickover, not when you increase the revs, everything seems to work very well and the garage I got to says it is not a problem.

But it could cause some damage?

I love the car to bit's however work mates call it a pope mobile, who cares whrn they need something moving they come to me, mmm a slight charge may be implemented.

So any thoughts?

Graeme.

Everyone calls mine the pope mobile too :D finally, I'm not alone!!! :p

And again the same, everyone asks we when they need stuff moved! :D The world of owning a Doblo, we could all write a book!

Mine gets called the popemobile as well. But I think its more ugly than that. :D When I was buying it I said to the dealer "at least you don't have to look at it while you're driving" - he laughed nervously... I don't care though, I've driven a lot of cars and the doblo is somehow more fun than pretty much any of the others were - except perhaps the VW van.

I've got a jingling noise (like spanners rattling together - which is what I thought it was, but I've secured all the spanners!) from the passenger side front when I go over bumps - anyone else had this?

I think I'll have to get that huuuuge undertray off and have a poke around.

So can anybody help with the problem, or just partex and get another one.

Graeme.

I don't know much about aircon, but you could try asking a garage that specialises in doing aircon systems, rather than a regular garage; they might have more idea about the possibilities of repairing your current system, and they'll have the equipment for handling the gas etc.

Crankshaft pulley wheel to test remove fanbelt and start engine if no noise then this is your problem.Be aware that no garages seem to be able to detect this fault even after removing the wheel.:worship:
