Exclamation Fuel Starvation??

Hi all, was wondering if anyone has had a fuel starvation issue?

While driving my Doblo lost all power and it seems to be a fuel problem. So far I have replaced the fuel filter incase it was blocked but it has not solved the problem.

Got the offer of mobile diagnostics, but I'm trying to save 80 for the pleasure

Many thanks

Cool Re: Fuel Starvation??

Hello there and welcome to the forum. Is the car cutting out completely or are you just loosing power, and how do you know if it is the fuel system?

Re: Fuel Starvation??

It will not start at now. Lost power while driving and that was it. Local garage suggested it was a fuel problem hence me changing the filter.
No dash lights are displaying and the said they could have diagnostic test done tomorrow.

Are you sure there is fuel in the tank? As maybe the sender or the guage is faulty and perhaps you have run out of fuel?

If so then I would suggest it's either an ECU fault or a fault with the fuel pump or even a blockage in the pipe?

So many options to look at, so might be worth having the test done at Fiat

Re: Fuel Starvation??

As said i'd take it to Fiat, doblos have a few 'known' common problem areas thus best to take it to someone who knows what to look for.....80 is expensive by the way.

Re: Fuel Starvation??

Ive had the same problem with my 1.9JTD Doblo Cargo a while ago.
You will probably find that the diagnostic check doesnt find the fault. Both Fiat and RAC couldnt pinpoint the problem using diagnostics.

The cause of your problem is im 99% certain its the crankcase sensor has gone faulty. should only cost you 20 tops for the sensor , and about 10 mins time to fit it.

I only found the solution to my problem from reading about the 1.9JTD engine , on the Multiplas section of this forum, as i believe the engines are the same in both vehicles, but the multiplas has been around longer.

CPS will bring up a error code (timing sychronisation) as its part of the EOBD system, however it can easily be scoped for breakdown/intermittent o.c/s.c or resistance check if present fault.

Re: Fuel Starvation??

tell the garage to check the solenoid vacume control valve for the anti run on butterfly in the inlet tract as if this valve fails ie leaks it suplies vacum and shuts the run on butterfly depriving the engine of air giving the impresion of fuel starvation

this does not have a fault code in the ecu but by starving the engine oif air
can bring up other faults such as air flow meter egr or boost presure
