First post hope some one can shed some light on this for me.

I have taken some photos as a guide.

I have a doblo / cargo year 2001 1.9 D base

I have had this since September last year.

Cost me £2995 at the time I have allready had to have cat/exhaust renewed "expensive" and it as developed the following fault.
I have had to book it in at the main dealer to be hooked up to the computer but they cant do this until Thursday morning so I am hoping some of youy Guys& Gals may shed some info on this for me as I would rather be armed with a bit of knowledge so as not to have my pants pulled right down (I am sure you get my drift)

First off glow plug light comes on flashing after start up for a short while.
I have read the threads and the guide book so am aware this is warning be there is a fault somewhere not allways the glow plugs.

The more serious probllem is the van will be fine for days weeks then all of a sudden it will just cut out with no warning.
It will not restart plenty of power but no spark.
If left for 20 mins or so it will fire up and run for a few minutes and then cut out again.
This happened yesterday and I had to leave it and go back in the evening to collect it with a friend following, the van started and was fine all the way home,I have had to cancel work today to book it in at the garage but I did use it as I had to get out It ran fine but it could go at any time.

I have had a look under the bonnet (I am a Plasterer and know nothing about engines) the only thing I could see was some bubbles around 2 of 3 of what I am guessing are the glow plugs "complete guess" I take it this is not normal and could this be my problem.

Once the van is started is that the end of the glow plugs job or do they do something whlst the engine is runninig?

I was wondering if it was something to do with temprature as the van can run a good while before this happens.

forgot to resize pics sorry.

Hey Cargo, welcome to the forum (thought I'd get that in before Ozzie, our semi official greeter:p :p :p :p ).

Those 'glow plugs' in your pictures look like diesel injectors to me. If they're leaking then it could be they simply need tightening/refitting to fix your problem. I'd be inclined to leave that to an expert as the consequences of getting it wrong and stripping a thread in the cyclinder head could be very expensive.

If the injectors are leaking, as opposed to the joint between the injector body and cylinder head, then an independant diesel specialist may be able help.

As Ozzie would say :p 'Let us know how you get on'.

Wow thx Niall G for your quick responce.

So as I thought I was well off the track with glow plugs.
Where are they situated?

Do you think this leakage could cause the van to cut out?

It had cut out on 2 seperate occassions yesterday was the first time it repeatadly cut out hence why it is booked in at Fiat.

I bought the van from Ford commercials as it had been traded in,it had an oil leak a few days after I recieved it.
They took the head off and replaced the gasket whilst doing this they also trapped an injecter pipe or something and I could smell fuel they fixed that also anyway that was yonks back now and all as been well.
I might take it to them tomorrow as the guy was friendly enough and see what they think as I cant get in at Fiat untill Thursday.

Ps:

Plz don't mention any spelling or grammer mistakes as I am S____e at spelling.

Damn! :bang: I missed a greeting! Only cause I haven't got the net in my house at the moment though Niall :p :p

And to your 2nd reply Cargo, this could indeed be why your van is cutting out, there could be a leak there and it could cause an air trap or something like that. I'm no expert though, and as Niall said, let them have a look at it thursday as injectors can be especially sensitive to over tightening and such :)

And as Niall said (gosh I'm saying that a lot today, what was the point in my post )... Let us know how you get on :D

thx
Ozzie.
I will let you know they are charging £38 to hook up to there computer thingy hopefully this may shed some light.
Will post tomorrow evening if all sorted.
I just get the feeling this is going to be one of those things that keeps coming back to haunt me.
I have used the van for work today only local about 12 miiles travel short journeys and van has been ok.

Prob just slight leak from injector spill pipes.
As for cutting out it might be (dependant on errors & parameters) pump off job & overhauled...heres hoping it aint;)
Could of been worse, you could of brought a new shaped transit!

Been at Fiat dealer today.
Outcome is they are putting in new glow plugs and a relay also a rpm something or other sorry cant remember some of the terms and they are replacing all the fuel /spill pipes as in the pictures because there was some leakage on one of them.
They assure me this will remedy the cutting out problem.
Hope so cos it is costing dearly.

thx for advice people.

Sounds like they're replacing eveything they can think of to solve the problem at once to cover their asses :) shame it's gonna cost you though, that's the worst bit :(

Still without van, say they are waiting on the "relay part" I find it well annoying that a main dealer is having trouble getting this part?
Wouldnt mind but the way they talk is as though they dont really know when it will arrive.I mean it is either in stock at there distributer or it is'nt,and if it is'nt surely they would say when it would be delivered.

Annoying yes but no one no matter how big a dealership they are can afford to stock everything, only fast moving items are stocked.
The computer system should give a rough idea if one is in stock at central warehouse but if it needs to come from Italy it can take 2-5 days.

Sorry for delay in update:
Got Doblo back on Saturday morning, all well not put a foot wrong since.
Total cost was £415

Anyways as they say draw a line under it and move on.

Many thx for all your comments/advice.
