Just found a pin-prick of a hole where the double bends are on the rear of the exhaust. Exhaustive :D trawling after being told the genuine part is £450:bang: , I decided to get some stainless quotes and boy, it excites me!! I have just had communication from Longlife exhausts (link below) and have been quoted £299 for the system (upto the cat) and an extra £59 to take the cat out all together, I find this an amazing price, I will let you know as soon as I have it fitted!

Do you mean it will no longer have a cat? Will that have implications for MoT, emmissions etc?

I agree I think youre on risky ground if taking a CAT out.... could affect the oxygen sensor etc...

The catalytic convertors are so efficient that the difference in emission readings for cars with convertors and those without are huge. The good news is that catalytic convertors have a good life expectancy, but still need to be checked periodically for internal and external damage.

Another device that helps to reduce carbon emissions is the oxygen sensor. This monitors the percentage of oxygen present in exhaust gases and transmits information to the engine management electronic control unit (ECU).

The ECU (Electronic Control Unit) constantly adjusts the air/fuel mixture so that the cleanest combustion is achieved under all operating conditions.

Sometimes, a 'failed' catalytic converter may be due to a fault in the engine management system. In these circumstances a new catalytic converter may not rectify the problem and the vehicle should be referred to the local dealer.

Together with the catalytic convertor, the oxygen sensor helps to achieve the lowest possible output of dangerous and polluting gases.
 
Just out of intrest are you having the system from the cat to the rear outlet or from the cat to the downpipes? If you've gone from the cat to the rear outlet, what end will you choose or will you just stick with a simple downpipe like the original?
 
My choices are limitless but the option I am taking is to have the new pipe incorporate the original cat and replace the downpipe with whatever Longlife suggest thus not affecting the emissions!(y)
 
My exhaust has just gone on the front, it is the flexi piece that's covered over, have been told it will cost about £80+VAT. (PS Mine is the non turbo).
