i.ve owned this wee van for 2 years and has never gave me any problems but was out in van a few days ago and come home parked it and 2 days later get in go to start van just cranking over will not start then i notice on the clocks an orange light with a padlock on it i have delphi and launch both will not read the ecu on the van anyone any idea,s have since bought a full ecu kit fitted it but same thing cranking over no start and same orange light

The light is indicating that the imobiliser is not switching off.
If you have a second key try that .
If that doesn't work try the long shot of disconnecting battery for at least half an hour. Reconnect battery and try and connect your code readers.
Have your code readers successfully connected previously?
Oh hang on a minute, you fitted a full ecu kit....did it come with a key programmed to the kit ?

The kit come complete key and ignition switch and ring bcm and fusebox and fusebox under the bonnet and the ecu its doing the same thing as my own ecu kit no spare key for the van i had the delphi and launch on the van a few weeks ago everything was ok then but only thing its not reading now is the ecu reads every thing else got u1601 code from bcm
Had the battery disconnected overnight but no difference
Do you have more than one car key on a bunch?
If yes take key off bunch and try on its own in ignition.
Then try forum search function for u1601
just a single key on both ecu kits strange its doing same thing on both ecu kits

Try disconnecting the battery again for half a hour then turn the side lights
to on before connecting the battery,
to on before connecting the battery,
got van sorted pin 94 on ecu plug was broken
Very strange how that could fail in service..
