Hi guys, I have a 64 plate 1.3 multijet diesel. The engine management light came on and i did a scan check which shows error code P2563...Boost position sensor A circuit Range/Performance. I located the sensor at the rear of the engine and removed and cleaned it, cleared the fault code and it reappeared when i ran the engine up to boost revs. My question is does these units need replacement even after cleaning, do they actually fail or is it just a clean?

Guys just a quick update on my boost sensor issue. I’ve solved the problem and the result may help others with the same issue. Originally an obd scan check showed code P2563. This indicated initially a boost position sensor issue. I duly replaced the boost sensor then ran the engine, the code reappeared. I checked all wiring, including short circuit tests, by pulling all fuses one-by-one and checking parasitic current drain. No faults found on the wiring. As a last resort i checked the waste gate actuator linkage......solved. The vehicle hasn’t been used for several months and the linkage had seized where the pivot joined the turbo housing. I sprayed it with WD 40 and levered the linkage back and forth several times which freed it up perfectly. This highlights that the fault was mechanical leading to a signal going from boost position sensor to ECU.

This may help others as I’m guessing if you went to an unscrupulous garage you could be conned into paying out for a new turbo with exactly these symptoms.
