Hey guys. John from the classic panda section here.
just saved one of these from the scrap yard I work at.
it has an issue where the fuel pump only runs if I take out the relay and loop a bit of wire in the relays switched pins. the engine starts and runs fine after I do this.
the issue is if I leave this tempory fix as it is, is that the fuel pump stays running constantly.
so my question is, where does the fuel pump relays signal wire come from? I have pulled checked and swapped around all fuses to see if that was the cause. I have also swapped the relays around. like I say however I am never getting the 12v signal to power the relay on.
this is not an immobiliser issue as it still starts from the key.
here's what I think, someone before scrapping the van tried to get the fuel out. (many fuel lines were disconnected and it was totally empty. I know this because I do it with scrap cars to get the fuel out of them.) I think they used the built in pump to pump the fuel out but they put the jumper over the wrong pins. maybe blowing the transistor that sends the 12v to the relay to turn it on.. where ever this transistor is.
what I need to find out is where this transistor is. inside the main ecu or a body control module? what tells the fuel pump to power on? does any one have an ECU pinout so I can probe that directly?
with hope it will just be a hidden fuse but I really do not want to have to break into the wiring harness to follow the wire all the way back to where ever it goes.
if all this does fail, I will find another 12v live that only comes on when the immobiliser is lifted and wire the relay into that.
is anyone able to shed some light on this?
Thanks!
