Ladies and gentlemen of the Fabulous Fiat Forum.
Does this intro get me brownie points??
Bought a Doblo (Dobbie)1.9 d with a camper cassette and full seats. 3 months ago.
It had done 52K miles and a further 2k since I've had it.
Its in great condition bodily and the engine looks squeaky clean.
Oil looks slightly cloudy mid to dark:rolleyes: brown.
First the master cylinder needed replacement and then a week later I'm told by a motor engineer that The sudden VIOLENT noise hear (I stopped the engine for an hour on a visit to a friend and started it again and heard this) could be the DMF or I need a new engine.
I have just visited the Garage and they have not looked at the car in a week to determine which is the problem.
Q1. Why DMF replacement OR new engine?
Q2. would the garage use a new clutch in their 750 pound quote?

Advice would be gratefully received.
I'm a Transport Manager, not a mechanic

Hi and welcome Mikie :)

The doblo section is bottom of homepage ;)

Dmf failure... not unheard of.. but not common

Im not even 100% sure its got one

What : when was this noise.. ?

Just on starting..

On driving

Under acceleration??

'Standard' is a chirp at low revs.. did it do that

Vibration is another tell tale..

Nothing obvious..??

Hi Mikie J and welcome to fiat forum....I really want a doblo camper ..but not possible just now ...and the prices they fetch here in Crete are shocking ....Anyway 52k sounds like not massive millage ,so a new engine seems a bit drastic ,what year is it ...maybe the dmf needs to regen , has it done it in the last 2k you have driven it for ?.. care to describe a bit more about your problem ..

Hi Mikie,
if the engine sounds as if it has a connecting rod bearing damage (hard metallic sounding noise like rhythmic hammering on steel) it could also be a hanging fuel injector.
Did you manage to find out which cylinder is concerned?
