I’ve owned since summer last year. Has run well apart from occasionally at junctions the revs bump up and down a little bit. Over the last couple/few months I think the hill hold assist has stopped working.

Before Christmas it threw errors on the dash about hill hold assist not being available, ESC and tyre pressure monitor (don’t think I’ve got the tyre pressure monitor on this model, but not sure). After switching it off and on again it settled on warning about the glowplugs. I got it to a garage who thought that the issue could be glowplugs needing to be replaced, which caused the engine to struggle to start, which caused the voltage to drop when starting, which caused sensors to throw errors. Two glowplugs were bad, all were replaced and the errors were cleared.

I barely used it over Christmas although during one short run the engine stopped - I thought I’d stalled it when pulling away. It threw the ESC and hill hold errors again, I took it to the garage who said that the steering needed calibrating which they did, they cleared the errors, test drove it and said it seemed fine.

Now today on the drive to work the engine cut out twice. Errors as above and also this time airbag warning.

I’m wondering whether all of these issues could be a bad earth, water in the electrics etc.

I’m going to see if I can get it to the garage again in a bit, but in the meantime would love to hear any thoughts from people. Occasional errors aren’t great, but the engine cutting out is dangerous.

Many thanks.

I'm down in Cornwall near Redruth. The car went back into the independent garage today for them to plug it back into their computer. I'm hoping to hear from them tomorrow but thought in the meantime if there's any common issues I could mention it to them - although I don't want to tell them how to do their job.

I'm getting prepared in case they are unable to diagnose anything.

Well the vehicle you have is a relative rarity on here..

However.. many of the annoying intermittent warnings can stem from:

Battery
Dodgy main earth cable
(power supply issues)

Brake light switch
(Body control errors)

Do check the garage are getting connected to both the engine..and body ..computers

Well this ended up being an issue for quite some time but I'll cut to the chase.

The garage ended up thinking that there was a poor earth somewhere on the car. Rather then spend too long investigating they added two new chunky earth cables, one from the battery to inside the engine bay (i.e. to the body) and another from inside the engine bay to the engine.

They had one of their mechanics drive it for quite a while afterwards and didn't experience any issues.

I've had the car back for a while although not driven it far as had no need to. Now with the current circumstances it's just sat doing nothing so I can't guarantee that the issue has been resolved, but I'd like to think it has been.

Thanks to varesecrazy for your interest.
