2007 1.9 multi jet diesel, 63500miles

Clunk at 75mph on the motorway and completely lost power. Very sad Doblo. RAC man said that the bottom of the fine was moving but the top wasn’t. Suggested it might be a timing belt issue.... I know these are bad.

How much am I expecting to pay???

Well.

Some parts are sacrificial..

But generally its as cheap to fit a sound used engine.

On a 2007.. it may not be cost effective.

Got any comeback on the last kit change?

Thanks varesecrazy! Sadly no comeback.

If I was to get it repaired, what’s the least possible.... ie what’s the smallest amount of damage that may have occurred.

New engine could be a plan - wouldn’t know where to start there :S

Not good.

Ok.. so ..as the belt snap .. the valves are still going Up and Down

And the pistons are also doing their up and down.. but no longer in timed unison :(

So.

Probably bent valves.

Possibly fractured valve train parts..

Potential damage to piston crowns. And the big end bushes will have seen loading by the contact.

An engine could be bought for @£250

Fitting.. about the same..

BUT.. you would want to do a proper belt train change on that motor too.. so another £100.
