Hi all, I have an 05 Doblo, 1.9 non turbo. On Wednesday, it decided to diplay the engine warning light and wouldn't rev. I limped to my tame mechanic at 19mph, and left it with him to be scanned. It did start fine the next day, but the same thing happened again about 4 miles later when the engine warmed.

Bottom line is that he suspects the high pressure fuel pump is faulty, backed up with the codes (P0253 & P0254).

I'm trying to find the part number so I can get a quote for a recon unit. Anyone have similar? And even better, a notion as to what it might be that doesn't involve the fuel pump? (Christmas optimist!!)
Or any sugestions about how I can get the part number without taking the car to bits?
Cheers, Chris.

Does not sound like your mechanic has Fiat specfic diagnostics like Multiecuscan. The is also a question as to which engine you have. The only non-turbo 1.9D Doblo I know of has the Lucas EPIC system which is basically a electronically controlled mechanical injection system. see: https://www.ecovippari.com/uploads/6/4/6/4/6464128/epicservicemanual.pdf
This does not have a high pressure fuel pump as used on a common rail system, just the injection pump.

I think you need to take the vehicle to a diesel or Fiat specialist before spending any money on parts.

Hmmm. I was thinking that if the pump was knackered, why would it reset? It seems to be when it warms up. But it starts as good as it usually does now, but I obviously don't trust it!

g8rpi will the error codes I've got be different if the car is scanned with a Fiat specific scanner?

Thanks, Chris.

I assumed it was a common rail fuel system.

But a SEARCH of the forum seems to suggest it is an old school distribution pump..by..
LUCAS

The codes.. some are common..

Others are manufacturer specific..

Thats why I search them on FF.. rather than the internet ;)

Are you on the Island??

A pug:citroen place may know the correct test procedure.

It is an amount of travel.. in mm's

According to the posts I read yesterday evening.

Fiat specific software like www.multiecuscan.net will give much more than just fault codes. For example readings from sensors like fuel pressue (which the Lucas system does NOT have) that allow better diagnostics.
Generic code readers may give misleading code descriptions so must be used with care.
Can you confirm what fuel system, mechanical (Lucas) or electronic (Common Rail) If the injectors just have pipes and no electrical connections it's the Lucas system.

Lucas system. Can see Lucus on the rubber top cover, no electrics to the injectors.

Car still running fine again! Could it be some crap in the system that has been coughed out?
