Help!

My wife has a new doblo van (dog limousine) and although the dogs haven’t complained, have we bought a dog?

It was purchased new in May, has 2500 miles on the clock now and has a very strange jittery thing going on at 2000 to 2100 rpm.

The best way to describe the issue is when on very light throttle, either in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear it feels like the injectors are clogged, has bad fuel, is not recognising where the throttle peddle is... it’s the same using either the throttle pedal or cruise control.. it makes it feel like the drive is detaching and engaging, you can feel it through the seat on smoothest roads...

I ran it at 4000 rpm for a couple of miles to see if it needed to burn any crap in the egr/dpf.

Any ideas as to what is causing this?

To me it seems like an engine management issue or sensor malfunction.

I live in France and my dealer is 45 miles away, so would like to go with some prior knowledge of what the problem may be.

Many thanks in advance.

I've had a 67 plate Doblo for a year now which has just started doing this a week ago at 9300 miles. I first suspected faulty pedal position sensor because the electronics in my van have been completely wacky since day 1. Of course it could equally be the engine management. Not sure where they will go if I take it into the garage - I can't really afford to have it off the road at all because the 500 they provide as a courtesy isn't going to do me any good.

Has yours stuttered at all outside that RPM range? Mine started there but has also started suffering loss of power at 5th/3000 ie 70mph which is, oddly, less pronounced.

Sorry for the delay, been away on business.
Last week wifey took it to the dealer, who drove it, felt it and proceeded to hook up the obd error code device... nothing found, so they re-set the whole thing to factory...

Seems to have solved the issue. I have not driven it myself yet but will check when I do and report back.

Good news for you.

There's something about the Doblo ECU, it never seems to flag up an error for anything short of severe engine problems. My original 12 plate had a lot of rough running and misfires while it warmed up - never even blinked. That compared to the Ford compact I was driving at the time that would just not stop throwing up codes. At least that way you knew what was wrong.
