Hi All, ok, 1.9 multijet 2007 Doblo 133k on the clock, its Dying :bang:
Its now a pig to start and when it does theres loads of white smoke coming out of the exhaust, even when its warm makes no difference.
Had the egr valve off and cleaned out all the gunk, had the turbo off nothing worn there all good.
Done a leak off test on the injectors and all are level.
it does not appear to be using any water and there is no water in the oil or oil in the water.
short of having the engine out and stripping it down I am now at a loss.
one thing I did notice the turbo electrical control valve has 3 pipes one to the valve at the egr valve one to the turbo actuator and the other was just blocked off with a bolt in the end of the pipe, any one have any idea where this pipe should be connected to, or is it just blocked.

Thanks for having the patience to read the monologue any any ideas are welcome.

White smoke is fuel that has not atomised properly and has condensed in the exhaust, creating the white smoke.

Difficult to start, and white smoke usually says heater plugs not operating. They should also work a little on a warm start, and for a time after startup until the engine is hot enough to not condense the fuel.

Quite likely, just needs a set of heater plugs.

Had this with my Dobbie, same syptoms, same engine.
Took EGR off cleaned. Same outcome.
Drove 1 mile away from home and called AA.
AA man stated looks like EGR. Obviously me not convinced but played dumb.
He squirted some EGR cleaner i`m guessing in air pipe and revved the absolute nuts off my engine for what seemed an eternity. Poor Dobbie.
Anyways, 2 mins later after a cough and a splutter she was fixed.
Impressed with the AA. Maybe a cheap fix for you.

Its smoking all the time, that said I have only run it for about 5 minutes each time, hard to start then don't want to rev up, if it was a petrol I would say that the timing was retarded.

let it idle for a minute.. then once the oil has circulated get the revs UP to 2000+

that should get the compression up enough for all 4 cylinders to burn cleanly.

have you checked all the fluid levels..?? ;)

Did that today, ran it for about 20 minutes revving up and idle , still loads of white smoke every time I put the foot down and still white smoke at tick over.

Ok.
Probably a mechanical fault.

If the levels are holding..
1st port of call is a dribbling injector.

IDEA.
GET the exhaust manifold DAMP WITH WATER..

Run for 30 seconds.

Do the 4x branches dry at different times?

The one that dried slowest is probably the best place to investigate 1st ;)
