My engine management light came on yesterday. I’d driven up the M5 from Exeter to Bristol at high speed but no high revs. A couple of times I wondered if I could see black smoke but everyone was throwing up salt spray so I couldn’t really tell.

The light came on when I was urban driving round Bristol. I’m supposed to be driving back down tomorrow.

Can I get it looked at when I get back home or is it something I need to get sorted before I leave Bristol?

P.s. I don’t know any Bristol garages and I have no money.

Welcome to the forum :)

Theoretically, you can do whatever you like, but you should at least get the codes read to find out what issue the car is seeing before you make a decision.
Without knowing what error the ECU is seeing, telling you whether or not you should be driving it will be pure guess work.
