Hi,

a while ago, 3 months or so, my clutch went, it was like pumping air, so work was done (slave-master) and all was good, just needed to go back a day later for air removal to help it and all has been fine.

but this week now clutch problems again, v v hard to get into any gear, grinding trying to get into reverse, some gears might improve thru the day with a bit more driving. If any gears dont work, i turn the car off, engage gear and i am back running again.

upshot is mechanic advises new clutch kit. BUT the parts shop cant identify which kit, there are 2 it seems, and if we get both and one has to be returned there is a 20% surcharge.

one clutch kit it seems comes with a flywheel kit!!!
so, the 2 suggested are VALEO or LUK (clutch and flywheel), does anyone know how we can identify for sure which i need to get for my year, make and model ??

Thanks,
Paul.

Had new clutch on an 07 plate think it was LUK the original flywheel bolts did not fit, so if you go down this route make sure you have new bolts I think they should have come with kit,
A new dual mass FW is sensible as the real cost is in Remove refit.
If you had gear box out why did they not suggest a clutch at the time, the costly work is now being repeated.
