Hi there

I have recently bought a used Doblo 1.9 JTD thingie which I am generally very happy with. But what I have noticed that the fuel gauge is very dodgy. In fact it seems quite definitely FUBAR - so isn't much use.

The trip computer SEEMS to be accurate, but I am not too sure how to be sure if it is in fact correct.

I live in rural France, so conking out on a country road is not really an option, meaning that I really need to know how much fuel I have left.

Does anyone have any cheats or ideas as to how to get a handle on such a matter without wasting time and money on pointless (and fruitless) diagnostic tests?

Many thanks

Hi and welcome :)

The costless option - look on fuelly.com at similar vehicles, look at roughly how many miles/km they get to a full tank. Brim the tank and reset the trip computer. When the trip computer gets close to what you think is the range based on the fuelly.com data, brim it again and note how many litres you put in compared to how big the tank is. Should get an inidication then as to roughly how much further you could've gone.

Thanks Eklipze

Brilliant site, have just checked it out - and I will give this a try. Its a little more "work" than I had been after, but it probably makes the most sense all round

Cheers
