Fiat Doblo 1.2v 2004

If I use my doblo everyday its fine. If i leave it for a day it wont start.

The battery sounds flat.

I take the battery off and put it on charge. The charger says the battery if full.

I put it back on the car and the car starts. Ive had it to the auto electrician and he says the battery and alternator is fine. Apart from a loose connection he couldnt find anything.

Someone mentioned it could be the crankshaft sensor

Please could you help me out

Hi,

You may have a current draw somewhere. if you have a multimeter, you could check your voltage level. If after a day the voltage drops considerably, then one would suspect a current draw taking place.
If this is the case, do the following procedure as in the link.

Hope this helps you.

John.

How was the battery checked?

Testing the voltage is only half the equation.
They can perform well on volts but have almost no ability to store enough amps.
A recent battery on one of my cars did the same thing.
It appeared flat but fed back a good 14.4v almost immediately on the charger, yet had no amps.

You really need to have it drop tested. (load tested)
(no this doesn't include dropping it from a great height or dropping something heavy on it)
It's a test on the battery that tests it's ability to store the amps.

Common rail diesels can be very fussy in relation to the battery.
It has to crank the motor and turn the HP pump full of cold diesel until it builds enough pressure in the rail before the injectors will fire.
That takes some battery power!

It's common for them (and most modern cars) to not even attempt to turn the starter motor if the battery isn't up to it, at best they just click a load of relays and perhaps cause the needles in the clocks to jitter!

My car is a petrol. Ive booked it in to the auto electricians on Thursday. Ive had two batteries on the car and its the same with both. So dont suspect its a battery problem more an electrical one.

Auto electrician had the car for a week. Testing the battery. Deep drain test voltage test amp tests and found nothing wrong. Brought it home. Same thing again now. Wont start. Flat battery. Fed up with it now.

What i cant understand is i take the battery off and put the charger on it. It says the battery is flat. I have it on charge for 1 to 2 minutes. Put it back on the car and it starts. Yet trying it on the car the engine wont even turn over.
