Oil smell over 60mph found leak 1.3 mtj

Hi there I've just bought a cargo recently ex Murphy construction and only just noticed that when driving around 60mph I get a burnt oil smell in the cab I have had a look and there is a build up of oil at a pipe just above the sump I'm guessing it's attached to the turbo sorry please view my gallery for 2 photos as I can't post ulr yet that hopefully will make it a bit clearer.
I'm not loosing any oil (in fact possibly over filled as the oil is at the top of max) there's no oil dripping on the floor and seems to drive great no smoking I can see when driving and getting around 55mpg it does have a slight flat spot between 17/18,000 revs but haven't seen this as a problem if anyone could possibly shed any light it would be much appreciated Many thanks J

Just a update so it is the oil outlet pipe from the turbo also there looks to be oil where the turbo connects to the manifold I've got it booked in the garage on Thursday so will know more than because it could have been over filled I'm going to do a oil and filter change and clean up see if I can see where oil is coming from

Sounds like the unions on the oil feed pipes to the turbo might be leaking, though it's not unheard of for the oil cooler to leak (under the oil filter housing).

EGR valves plague every modern diesel, and that might be the cause of your flat spot.
They are designed to open on no/light throttle inputs and allow exhaust gas back around and into the intake/cylinders.
They should close when the engine is under load so it sucks only on air.

There a lot of soot and engine oil blowby in the air intake and this can mix into a horrid gunk and jam up the EGR valve.
When they are like this they tend to cause hesitation or a judder when applying a light throttle after a bit of over run, like if you come off the gas to slow for some lights, but they change and you get back on the gas.
It's choking the engine of air when it needs it as it's not closing properly.
