my 2004 1.9jtd doblo is cutting out randomly when driving.(108k miles)

Fuel filter changed 3 months ago

not read the codes yet but no dash warning lights.

Normally happens when cruising at a steady speed/throttle

early indications are if you keep the throttle in the same position the motor stays dead but if you lift off or put your foot down the motor comes back to life !!

checked battery and engine earths today but no change.

i will investigate when time allows but any bright ideas ?

thanks

Roger

Thanks thats the direction i was heading :)

may have found the fault as well.

i went in to check the tps wiring and connections and found the brake light switch very hot and starting to melt as it was stuck on !!

i have removed it while waiting for a new one.

i wonder if this was effecting the voltage to the tps as it is on the same bit of loom.

i will update once i have been for a decent drive

This is one small fault on my Cargo, same year. Can be driving along normally and the car behaves like you have just come right off the throttle. Its not cutting out, but its like its losing the input signal from the pedal. It's a very rare occurrence so currently not worrying me, but I am wondering if one day the signal from the pedal will simply stop - assuming its drive by wire?

regarding the egr problem I've used millers diesel power regularly and in 4 years & 24 k miles never had any problems with egr relayed etc, its brilliant stuff, I don't work for them btw?

are you saying it has "fixed" an issue you had..?
or you've used it full-time and not found a problem..??

just wondering if your use of the vehicle is as the designer intended.. unlike DPF cars that never get hot..;)

hi Charlie, I used the vehicle for work in a major city, lot of stop start etc, have heard people say dp cures existing probs also yes

That is exactly the same fault symptom I had it was at slow speed in 3rd gear as if there was a misfire or fuel starvation the clean out of gunk and new egr valve sorted it.

I definitely won't describe my fault as the engine actually cutting out - Its merely like you are coming off the throttle pedal when you are not.

I have no EGR either. Been blanked off and mapped out.
