Hello, I have a Fiat Doblo 1.6 Multijet 2011 model.
I bought it with 80.000 klm and now it has 115.000 klm

A few weeks ago my car started to have a weird smell from the exhaust (I suppose), but not always.
Sometimes it smells sometimes not.

I ask two mechanics about that, and they mentioned a possibility
that I have problem with DPF filter.

The first told me that it needs to take DPF away from the car and clean it.
The second told me to buy a Wurth spray to clean it.

While googling I saw that DPF is very important for my car, and really expensive. But nowhere I saw the word "cleaning", but "regenerating"...
Also probably I would have an indication at the dashboard of my car

Any ideas what else should I check?

Best regards

Could you not ask for a forced regeneration of the DPF to be carried out by your garage or dealer?

The DPF should regenerate automatically, especially if you go out on a long run and get it hot - not town driving.
If it is getting blocked, you will get a lght on the dashboard.

Are you SURE that the smell is from the exhaust?
If you have a coolant leak, and it drips onto the hot exhaust, it will smell odd.

The next time you get the smell, open the bonnet and have a sniff - if it's DPF you shouldn't smell it there.

Hello everyone,

Could you not ask for a forced regeneration of the DPF to be carried out by your garage or dealer?

I would like to avoid it and be sure that this is the problem, because it is expensive

The DPF should regenerate automatically, especially if you go out on a long run and get it hot -

Is this done with the liquid they told me? I mention it in the next lines
Should I do anything else?
Why the every here garage, ask for 200 euros to do that?

The next time you get the smell, open the bonnet and have a sniff - if it's DPF you shouldn't smell it there.

What is the bonnet? Where is it? Google translate does not give me an appropriate word...

I just took the car from my garage a couple of days ago.
They changed the exhaust because it was rotten
Also they changed 2 of the 4 items that are for warming the engine
Also they told me to buy a liquid to put in the tank, and drive in a highway
for 20 minutes to get out all the dirt...

Unfortunately the smell is still there...
I realized the next day, and since then I am wondering...

I took my car with a certain problem to my garage...

They changed some "broken" stuff to fix it...
But they didn't...

Why they did not tell me about the liquid before I take my car there?
I had payed them a visit two times before that, to ask for information...

Thank you both!!!
