Doblo heated door mirrors

Had these fitted to the wifes car. According to the salesman they are permanently on. There is an entry in the index to the handbook, but nothing on the page referred to. In the recent damp weather I can see no evidence of them working. Anyone know if there is a switch? If not is there a way of telling if they are heated?

Thanks

Interesting thought. Looks like a damp night tonight, so I'll try your theory in the morning. Thanks

Re: Doblo heated door mirrors

Tried, but not convinced, so I thought that Fiat might help. Posted the same query and got this immensely helpful reply....

Thank you for contacting the Fiat Information Centre

At this office we do not have access to information relating to technical queries and can only advise you on the best course of action to take in order to find out the information you require.

For technical enquiries we recommend that you contact your nearest authorised Fiat servicing agent. If they are unable to help personally with your enquiry, they can contact Fiat UK Technical Department for the information.

The Fiat technical department is not available to the public for general enquiries or technical advice. Information from the technical department can only be accessed through an authorised Fiat dealership/servicing agent

If you require further information or need to know the whereabouts of Fiat dealerships please go to www.fiat.co.uk or alternatively contact the Information Centre on 0845 6066619. Office hours are Monday- Friday, 8am-5pm. Any one of our Customer Service Representatives will be happy to assist with your enquiries.

Best Regards

Re: Doblo heated door mirrors

So, as they were asking to be wound up I asked...

Thank you for your reply.

Two questions:-
1. Would you like to comment on the innaccuracy in the drivers hand book, surely this is not a technical matter.
2. If I have difficulty resolving a problem with my dealer, where is my point of appeal within Fiat UK, if I am not allowed access to the technical dept?

And they said......

Thank you for contacting the Fiat Information Centre

We are looking into your enquiry about the accuracy of the Doblo Manual. Since we are making this enquiry we will also try and establish the answers to your two original questions about the heated wing mirrors on your Doblo.

So it is possible, but just in case I thought that I had scored a point.....

As for your most recent point for technical enquiries we recommend that you contact your nearest authorised Fiat servicing agent because they have the training, experience and equipment to assist with these enquiries. If they are unable to help personally with your enquiry, they can then contact Fiat UK Technical Department for the information.

The Fiat technical department is not available to the public for general enquiries or technical advice. From past experience we have found that giving advice over the phone for technical issues to technically inexperienced customers is usually not a satisfactory resolution for either party.

Or, to put it another way ' If your are stupid enough to buy one of our cars, you obviously can't be trusted with anything technical.

Innit nice to be appreciated?

Re: Doblo heated door mirrors

I've had two Punto and a Stilo and all 3 were activated when the rear screen heater was on. They cleared in about 2 mins. All they have is a heated element down the back in the middle.
