Hi all from the tiny island that is Singapore.
I got a 2006 Fiat Doblo 1.9jtd engine type 233B1000 and i am planning to squeeze a little more go out of it.
My current plans comprises of the following.
EGR delete
Hybriding stock VL35 turbo with larger internals
DPF delete (need advice on this as i am concerned about the black smoke produced)
Upgrading to a custom larger front mounted intercooler
Water methanol injection
Tune

I was wondering if anyone can help me with my doubts as to whether or not my brand new but stock clutch and my gearbox could hold the power that the engine would make.

Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers

hi there koalie from Singapore, sorry no ones replied yet, I've got a dobby jtd 04, sounds like a lot of stuff to do to an old car, are you sure its financially viable, just saying. Neil

My 2008 MultiJet (120bhp) has had the DPF deleted (not through choice) and re-map to 160BHP and I can confirm the car smokes but performance is noticeably better. If you accelerate gently it is not too bad or hardly noticeable but if you want to use the performance (floor it) you will produce a smoke screen the Navy would be proud of. However, if I use "super diesel" (e.g. Shell Nitro V+) and keep the engine spinning mostly between 2K and 3K, the engine stays clean and will produce little or no smoke under normal usage. Only when the power/torque kicks in will it smoke (very noticeably). The standard clutch struggles with the torque in 5th gear and will start to spin if I try and accelerate quickly - but this tends to happen higher up the rev range. Just as a side issue I lived in Siglap village for 2 years - many many years ago. I don't think the flats I lived in are there any more.

Hi FJRrider, apart from the dpf delete, did you have any other mods done to your ride? Also, do you know who makes uprated clutch for the 1.9jtd multijet 8v?
Thanks

A doblo brand new in Singapore is around 40000usd in 2006....i am just hoping to get the most out of the humongous investment. Owning a vehicle in Singapore is really costly.

hi koalie, is that right 40k us dollars?, how much is that in pounds, you would be looky to get £2000 for it here in the UK, are there import tariffs on cars?, I visited Singapore in 1991 on the way to os many moons ago, lovely place, suppose parts are same prices, could you import one from uk any cheaper?, merry Xmas. Neil

Hi KoalieKoala, no, no other mods. Because of an ongoing issue with the the DPF (frequently forcing the car into limp mode) and, despite changing various DPF related bits, the only fix was to delete the DPF etc, and get it re-mapped. I had no intention of improving the performance, it was just that the re-map gave me 160bhp and (i'm guessing) about 200flb torque. I don't use the performance much as the car has done 168K and is 8 years old and I am concerned about the impact of the extra torque on the drive train/transmission/clutch. However, it's there on the odd occasion I need it. It will pull to 3 figures fairly easily but not in this country because of our speed limits etc. Oh, and the smoke!

More like 47k. 200% import tax plus certificate of entitlement adds up above original vehicle import tax. Plus year 1.3k usd equivalent road tax.

that's appalling mate, its a wonder people aren't up in arms about it, complete rip off. Neil

Got around to modding the doblo. Got a hks evc 6 boost controller to pair up with a hybrided for larger 10 blade compressor while keeping with stock turbine cor faster spool. Cooling the charge air is a huge evo sized intercooler setup and did both a egr and dpf delete. With the stock turbo and evc 6, boost would spike to 1.3bar at 1.7k rpm but promptly drop down to 0.5bar at 4k rpm onwards. Now it hits 1.4 bar at 2k rpm and only tapers down to 1.1bar at 4k. Will report back once fully tuned. Hopefully the clutch holds up

Here is a pic of the 10 blade compressor. Abt 5mm bigger than stock
