Hi I am new to the forum and would like some advice about gearbox oil change. I removed the filler/level plug first as recommended in another post before draining the gearbox in case there was an issue removing the filler plug.
When I removed the filler/level plug oil came out, about 100 ml. I then removed the drain plug and 1.5 ltr drained out. This makes a total of approx 1.6 Lt drained. The handbook gives a total capacity of 2 Ltrs is this correct?
When I started to refill the gearbox oil started to to come out of the level plug when I had only put in 1.3 Ltrs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Just fill it up until oil comes out of the level bung hole, refit the bung and give the wheels a spin, wait a minute then recheck oil level. If oil comes out of the oil level plug then it's spot on. If you manage to get another 100ml in and quickly put the bung in then it will be fine.

Thanks for the advice Thefox. Just can't understand why the handbook says it takes 2 Ltrs when it obviously doesn't. I did give it a quick run up the road and managed to get another 100 ml in.

Cheers

Not sure if this engine in the Doblo has the same gearbox as when Vauxhall use it but there are some wells inside the box that don't drain so filling a rebuilt box will hold more than filling on just an oil change
