Folks, I want to buy a Doblo 1.4 petrol (2008), its got 68000 on the clock. does anyone know if these engines will do a decent mileage? Anyone got a doblo 1.4 with say 150,000? The reason I am wondering is because these engines are designed to burn 500 grams of oil per 1000km (see handbook) - ie from new. My experience with Vauxhall Astras has left me uneasy about any engines that deliberately burn oil. Astras dont do well after about 80,000 - because the oil control rings fail eventually to do their job (I stripped my engine down and have photos to prove it).
It doesnt mean Doblos will be the same though. If some of you have a Doblo 1.4 with a good mileage and not burning oil over the stated value it would be great.
(By the way i reckon 500 g/1000km = 0.6 litres/1000km which is what astras and Skodas (0.5litres) and many other cars use)

Hi,
those are MAX design figures..
I was terrified when my old diesel said 1 litre per 1000 KM's,
it actually used ZERO,

pretty sure ( DO CHECK..) your engine will be the same as the Grande Punto,,
NOT a car known for running out of oil..,

150K - quite possible with sensible servicing , etc,

Thanks Charlie,
I dont know about diesels at all. But the oil consumption ive mentioned is nominal for VAuxhall petrol engines. I dont know how to check if the engine is same as Grande Punto though - I didnt take the engine number. But its good if they can do 150,000. Skodas use oil and theyre used as taxis - cant get a much better vote than that. I havent bought it - maybe lost it by now...Craghopper
