Fiat doblo limited to 68mph

Well the multiecuscan worked on my Doblo, it is a 2011 ex carrilion fleet van, the option is in the software from Gendan UK to remove the limiter,
They class my van as a type 263 if that is of any help to anyone

Depends on age. Let me know year and I'll tell you where it is.

If I do this, you must understand it is at your own risk, and is not advised.

That You are aware of the implications: Under certain cirumstances you may find you have nullified insurance, If involved in a fatal accident and the modification is found you may be prosecuted or imprisoned as a result (chances are slim but no unknown - a Lorry driver with switched limiter sentenced 7 years for a fatal accident where speed was a major factor)

Let me know year and I will let you know the VSS - If over a certain age, it may have an interface added to convert in which case will need to know model for exact colour. If you are reasonably competent, I can tell you which to avoid snipping....which is more important!

Hi im new to this site and have been following the replies about disableing or removing the speed limiter on doblo vans as ive recently bought one from a dealer who didnt tell me it had one ! and said they could not do anything about it ! but after reading recent posts it seems its an easy fix rekatively speaking, by snipping the pulse wire (whatever that is) im assuming it transmits the vehicle speed from the wheels or gearbox to the ecu and speed limiter ? i have a 2014 1.3 diesel turbo, if you could give instructions on how to remove or disable the pulse wire that would be great.

Is it not just an ECU setting?

This has been a commonly raised question..

Maybe look on the MES register.. top of forum homepage :)

Hi, I have a 2017 Doblo 1.6d, when I bought it at about 5 months old it was limited the same as yours, I opted to get a tuner to remove the limiter which is in the ECU, this is not possible. I took it to a Fiat service center who removed it for me FOC, they told me there are 2 kinds of limiter, both within the ECU which owners choose to have enabled when ordering the van from new, one of which can be removed by a dealer or service center, the other is embedded into the ECU at the Fiat Factory and can not be removed, the only option in this case is a replacement ECU. I hope this is of some help to you. Jon.

My ex SSE Doblo is also limited to 68mph, I had the guy from Remap Kings come out yesterday who said the limiter is buried in the ecu by Fiat dealer on its pdi when new.
Only a fiat dealer can remove it, so it’s booked in with Fiat in two weeks time.
I will let you know the outcome
I had the remap done though, wow what a difference!

Remap might cause grief.
Fiat dealer may refuse to remove the limiter, or just refuse to do anything, or the remap might be removed and put back to standard as a by-product of the limiter reset.

Hi Lee.

What model variant.. and engine do you have?

Older 1.3's seem to be different to what you have found..

Hope you get the result you are after :)

There seems to be a lot of mights about what may or may not happen.
At the moment the van is great, if Fiat take the limiter off even better, if not hey ho!
I tend to deal with facts no maybe’s
As I said I will post the outcome.

Hi Charlie
It’s a 65 plate 1.3, it’s my first Fiat so don’t know much about them yet, always been a Mercedes fan before now, but I really do like the little Doblo, even more so if I will eventually be able to overtake on the motorway without a risk asses ent first.

I thought the national speed limit on a motorway was 70 mph
Seems a lot of hastle to gain an extra 2 mph!
My fiorino 1.3 chipped diesel does 110mph.....but I will not do more than 70 on a motorway
The reason for the upgrade is better low end performance and mpg

The limiter has been removed!
Fiat truck and van dealer managed to remove it ( after having to get fiat in Italy involved)
Remap still in place and now I have a little pocket rocket.
It cost me £122.00 ( one hours labour) and I’m chuffed to bits with it.
Looks like that’s the only way to do it on the later models as the limiter is imbedded at the factory.

I had my restriction removed when my van was only months old, the dealer told me if it has been done at the factory it can not be removed as it is locked into the ECU, the only option then as far as they are concerned is a replacement ECU. If it was done at the supplying dealers it is a simply a case of disabling it at the ECU, my dealer didn't charge but said it would cost about £30 to do. MultiECUscan would probably be able to disable it, if it is not embedded in to the ECU.
