about a month ago the doblo 1.9 jtd lost turbo boost. after cleaning out the egr valve of carbon deposits all seemed fine. just recently lost boost again. checked the egr valve, not sooted up, so reassembled, van ran again. two days later the same. just redid the proceedure flooded the valve with wd40. seems ok again.
noticed that after the clean/reassemble the turbo boost was very noticable, nothing until 2000rpm then boost, after a few miles under the clock the boost is softer and less pronounced, just drive more torque below 2k then a boost at 2k.
if i drive just below 2k it stutters a little until the boost happens.
question is, the EGR valve, just wondering if its going to let me down again.
what should the engine feel like? nothing until 2k then boost or the softer delivery? its a 2006 euro4 1.9 8v jtd.
heard some folks blank the egr off, why? postive/negative effects.
help please.
ATB Gary.
note the egr has electrical cable to solenoid.

Don't know the Doblo engine, is a a 16V multijet?
It seems more likely that the Manifold Air Pressure (MAP, Boost) sensor is fouled up. Give it a gentle cleaning. see https://www.fiatforum.com/croma-ii/246118-clean-your-boost-sensor-now.html
Blaking the EGR is technically ilegal, but hard to detect. Depending on the engine/ECU you may need a deletion / remap of the ECU. There is also restrictor plate that can be fitted. https://www.fiatforum.com/miscellan...v-mjtd-egr-valve-restrictor-installation.html
This is approved and seems to help.

thanks for the reply. no its not a 16valve unit, its 8 valve.
Gary.

Hi,
Same comments apply to the 8V, but as my car has a 16V I don't have first hand experience. The boost sensor thread I linked to covers the 8V as well as the 16V. Apparently it's harder to get the 8V sensor out unless you have a short torx bit or take the EGR valve off first. Well worth trying cleaning it. Also the 8V is less likely to need ECU changes to prevent fault lights when the EGR is blanked off.

thanks, i will try removing and cleaning the sensor. i have been taking the EGR valve off, getting used to it now, so should make access to the sensor easier.
just trying to get a feel for this as Haynes dont appear to do a manual for the Doblo.
thanks all, once ive shook these flu like symptoms off will give ita go.
Gary.
