Spare parts - is this the thin edge of the wedge

Tried to order a gasket seal that goes between throttle body and intake manifold today only to be told by two separate main dealers that it's no longer serviced/available and no replacement part is going to be made available.
This is for a 2005 Doblo 1.9JTD.
I have heard that manufacturers do give cars a 10 year life expectancy. I think I now know what they mean, when the cars are 10 years old they will stop making the spare parts for that car.

Re: Spare parts - is this the thin edge of the wedge

It is impossible to not find spare parts after 10 years. Almost the spare parts are after market not OE, made by many different producers. Try at online shops.

Someone's pulling your wire, I managed to get genuine parts last year from a main dealer for a 2001 honda and they were daft bits of trim that anyone else wouldn't have bothered with

I wish they were, I tried two different Fiat main dealerships 30 miles apart and both came back with the same answer after checking on the Fiat online parts catalogue - part no longer serviced and not available with no alternative part available. Both tried to see if there was any old stock in their own individual groups and both drew a blank.
I know there are independant parts companies out there that do buy old stock from main dealers and then sale direct to the public.
On this occasion, I can get around the problem by making the seal gasket out of a piece of printers litho plate.

Re: Spare parts - is this the thin edge of the wedge

I take it its part no: 46547895 you need, I had a quick look on EPER on FF though its pretty out of date and doesnt have much after 2007, if the part number had changed since then chances are FF eper doesnt have the new one but a dealer should be able to find it by VIN or reg number, what happens if theres a newer model with the same engine?

Re: Spare parts - is this the thin edge of the wedge

Cheers bravo86gaz, yes that is the part number, I did the same ePER check and quoted the part number for cross reference with the dealers findings.
Might stand corrected but it wasn't long after 2005 that the face lift model with 1.9 Multijet engine was introduced. I'm not sure if the gasket seal would be common with that engine.

Right have some good news and bad news.

Good news is I think I found your gasket, Bad news is I'm not 100%, the dealers were right saying it had been discontinued, although as a single part, its still available as a kit with new bolts and a new part number

How does this look?? Fiat part no: 71748277

Thanks again bravo86gaz
Yep, that looks like the correct shaped gasket seal.
I'll give the main dealers a ring tomorrow and see if I can come up trumps

Aooreciate your help trying to find this part, but unfortunately drew a blank.
I rang SLM Fiat in Hastings and quoted the part number. The parts guy doing the looking drew a blank. He said the number quoted wasn't coming up with anything.
Did you originally find the part number on ePER?
