Hi. I'm new here - hoping someone may be able to help me.

I have looked at the forum posts regarding radiator hose connectors and I have tried squeezing the metal bits and wiggling to see if the hose will come off and all I have is sore fingers.

I have attached a pic of the hose connector. Is this seriously the quick release type you speak of? There is no room to get in pliers or anything?

Any help on how I get this off would be appreciated. I have been squeezing both the top and bottom metal bits and trying to pull the hose of but it is not budging. It is on man tight and I am a female with small hands so probably not helping. Is there a special tool I need??

I have a Fiat Doblo Multijet 1.3D - All I want to do is drain the rusty system and fill with nice new anti freeze. There doesn't appear to be any drain plug?

My other option is to try and remove the rubber hose fitted to the opposite end of the plastic elbow and re-secure with a jubilee clip - anyone had any success with this. Thinking I will just damage something and never get the seal back.

Any experience would be helpful. Thank you

Many thanks for your reply. I did remove the jubilee type clip (red) but the hose is welded to the plastic elbow. Apparently a new hose comes as a complete unit with plastic joint and connector. I had concerns about wrenching the hose off the red area you suggest in case the hose splits or I can't get it to seal again. I take it you've done this successfully. I agree it would make more sense, especially to be able to do it easily next time. Your input is appreciated - will post again with update. Thanks again.

It says Squeeze together and pull off........but clip might be full of crud and very hard to remove.

From the picture is it possible you have to push inwards towards the middle of the hose the two raised parts on opposite ends of the pipe that are 180 degrees apart with your thumb one side squeezing and gripping and on opposite side a finger squeezing and gripping with other fingers gripping on the other side pulling the fitting off the radiator.

Calling @Davren

However I suspect if you ignore the clip that end, and focus on the other end of the elbow fitting and work away at the rubber of the hose, then from Davrens picture it is not welded but is instead just glued with crud and will eventually come off - most hoses get like this eventually - I have even carefully used a screwdriver to try and work free the open end of a hose - the hose is remarkably strong and resistant to damage if you are careful.

Correct me if i'm wrong but that looks more like an intercooler connector than radiator?
