Hi folks, 1.9jtd 2004 96k, im getting turbo noise at low revs but its very quiet, been like this fr ages no smoke runs nicely im thinking cld be turbo pipe not turbo, cld anyone give me idea what to check. Cheers. Neil.

My 54 plate jtd does exactly the same thing,i can hear the turbo spool up between about 1200-1500 rpm then it quietens down this is quite normal for a variable geometry turbo you have nothing to worry about!Mine has 112k and purrs!

Thanks for reply boney, I hope its ok theres also a little noise that might suggest air in one of the pipes but in anycase has gone on for thousands miles like that, hows the rest of your dobbie, had any other problems etc. Neil.

Apart from rebuilding gearbox, new dual mass flywheel, clutch, cambelt kit and big service only problem i have is with central locking my delphi is telling me sliding doors are open when they are closed,i have done the switch mod but still does it now and again, went out to it in the week to have a look works every time, intermittant problems can be a pain to find.Got a wiring diagram so going to start with connections and earth points first, once weather warms up!

Youve done quite a bit then I got mine at 87k and its got 96 on now, done few small jobs myself, needs rear wind heater fixing, spring job, I did mini service fuel filter myself, been thro 2 mots no advisory. 112k seems low to have gearbox probs tho. Neil.

If you think thats bad the gearbox i took out is a genuine remanufactured part, even i was surprised,i am friends with the first owners son and first box got really noisey at about 50k,i have photos of it inside was covered in dark muck and input shaft front bearing had over heated and inner race was chewed up it was so noisey i could barely hear the engine, clutch was soaked in gear oil, only cost£60 for new bearing, driveshaft seals, release bearing guide tube and two stake nuts, easiest box i've ever built,i am planning on changing gearbox oil everytime i change oil to see if it lasts a bit longer!
